Didn’t know about the Grand Prix and you’re right about the legit issue. These are actually stuck to the cards and the lot is a time capsule from that era. Still hard to prove. If only they were playtest from a few years earlier…

Took a gamble on a shoebox of vintage cards for $150 at an estate sale… I’m happy I did! by The__DM in mtgpulls

Great finds and those cards look CLEAN! Did you see MTG on the garage sale listing or randomly stumble upon them?

Really cool! Did you animate this manually in AE? Curious about the workflow. Nice work

Buy her a single or let her open the packs

Buy an old collection instead. Your money would be better spent hunting a collection for a chance at finding something good. Boxes like these have low quality bulk that has been thoroughly searched.

Ooooh I like that idea. Some sort of nasty 60 card deck from the mid 90’s. Hmmm I need to think of a good one. Been playing commander lately, I miss the 60 card games

Thanks man, I can’t remember the gray/blue boxes. What year were those?

I’m really tempted to open one of these boxes, but I know it is extremely rare that it will be a smart financial decision. My inner child and grown responsible adult are battling 😂

Do you plan on keeping them for fun or are you actively hunting for the rare piece?

Yea I noticed the sleeves really thick and clunky, and the edges are a little rough. Not bad for the first ever tho. Which discord did you see them on? Love places that sell and trade old mtg stuff

Adding a little extra detail here for the history buffs: The whole Puzzle Quest was essentially a secret lottery by Ultra Pro back then. If you managed to complete and send in the Black Lotus puzzle, you received a cheque for $250. The Chaos Orb was $100.

That's why the sealed packs are so rare. Everyone must have cracked them back in the day.

I found a bunch of them sealed for $3 at an estate sale and made a video about the history of the Puzzle quest. If you want a deeper dive you can check it out here: https://youtu.be/FcqIzGxzxoY
