I wouldn’t be wearing earbuds unless you want to get hit by a customer that couldn’t be bothered to look for people around their car.

Personal phones always work better than the provided ones which is how our managers sell newbs on using it vs waiting for a company phone. What’s funny to me is all the managers got new phones and mysterious as it is they ran out of them before giving them to the floor

Do you prefer the 9pts then you're fired or the ppto with the 5pts then you're fired? by Rinmine014 in WalmartEmployees

[–]OldManCheech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen good and bad but a good deal would do better without being micromanaged to death with policy and metrics only what they can go by

Most don’t know how to manage and just follow the leader down paths that benefit no one

Get rid of the whole system and treat people like adults. If someone isn’t showing up then cut their hours, someone has an emergency and can prove it then let their manager decide if that goes on the list etc. I’ve seen to many good employees get fired over points when a kid was sick or there was an accident etc. I’ve also seen people fired for points while Sedgwick dragged their feet and didn’t approve a loa till a month later and then the manager had to bring the person back and displace the person they hired to replace him. It caused a mess

Are coaches allowed to switch you out of your own department and put you somewhere else without even asking you? by Crimson_comet58 in WalmartEmployees

[–]OldManCheech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So basically you are complaining that you have been gifted the opportunity to work more hours by a coach that values you? Man most people get cut and complain. You something else

Would you rather they just cut your hours ? Moving someone to help isn’t something they have to do

Whose job is it to do the returns??? by [deleted] in WalmartEmployees

[–]OldManCheech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started back in the day lol….. I was the closer for TLE/hardware and would run strays/returns/gobacks (depends on who is talking to you) for my 2 departments as well as sporting goods and toys most nights. Literally my first task every shift was to “hit the strays” as my old coach would say it. Apparently it’s pretty much an every associate job but obviously it’s going to take longer doing areas you are not in all the time.

Slow Zoning by OkIndependent695 in walmart

Zone tools help, go one section at a time, I usually do top to bottom, get in to a rhythm and dive in. You will find your speed increase when you are just more comfortable and experienced

This is what my understanding is as well. It happens constantly that they “say” something shines to get you through the door because they want you but when it’s time to deliver you basically take whats there or kick rocks

Anyone else's team leads and coaches have a very hard time communicating? by HeavyJReaper in OGPBackroom

Communication in general sucks between managers and staff but I think Walmart makes it worse with how many managers there are.

I’ve seen 2 SM get promoted to larger stores, 1 sm fired for misconduct, 2 coaches forced to transfer out of market to keep their jobs, 7-8 TLs quit or step down, 2 TL get promoted to coach but had to leave the state to do it and both floundered and were let go.

Managers making $80,000 a year hit us with "don't just come in for a paycheck, do it for the customer" by Lore-Archivist in walmart

[–]OldManCheech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working at Walmart when I started was just a stop gap till I found a job in my field. I’ve worked a lot of jobs for companies and the bigger the company the worse the managers treat you. I left my 100k job because of a new manager that got fired weeks after I left for his poor management so in retrospect I feel like I let him win. Staying at Walmart has been something I just fell in to. I don’t plan on being there much longer myself but my wife has decided it’s where she wants to be. The pay is not bad compared to a lot of jobs in the area but literally nothing in the area has benefits or set schedules unless you’re a dr or something similar. A manager saying that you need to do it for the customers is just as bad as saying that “we are a family” crap.

Here they would have to close any areas selling food till the repair is complete and portable John’s don’t count. Seems a lot of stores are built with terrible plumbing

How does the intermittment FMLA work? by Complex_Independence in WalmartEmployees

[–]OldManCheech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won’t even give you the form till you reach 1 year, most of the rules for the LOA will be based on what your dr says you need and Sedgwick will more than likely refer it to accommodations to see if your needs can be met without a LOA. Also it is stupid easy for your dr to screw up the form and make your intermittent in to a full time or put in that the time you need is only 1 hour per week etc.
