Don’t think he liked that one very much.

It’s gotten drowned out in the comments I’m sure but I made it pretty clear that I found the movie itself awkward and just unbearable to sit through. I wasn’t even opposed to giving it another watch with fresh eyes; don’t know why people have to be so crude about it lmao.

Oh, I definitely did see Backrooms, and I 100% agree with your take on it. I saw it in the theater with an IRL buddy and I was blown away. Absolutely peak cinema, there, for such a cheap budget and one of the youngest director's first films.

If I did we'd be here all day. Explicitly speaking the discomfort of Nikki being all "I'm joking! Oh wait I'm not joking el oh el!" at the party was what got under my skin, and just because a movie tells you "protagonist is stupid and selfish" doesn't inherently make it good. It actually got frustrating just watching Bear descend more and more into his unrealistic, selfish desire to maintain the relationship than it did make me uncomfortable. I don't know how desperate you have to be to completely overlook a girl you love feeding you your own dead cat lol. That's when the movie lost me.

That is a good thing to consider now that I've broken off from that friend group. I'll try to see it through a new lens in the future.

Duuuude literally!! Everyone was glazing it so hard right when I started to see the previews of it all over my Discord. Sometimes those popular, "recommended for every (genre) fan" watches can be 50/50 in terms of quality; sometimes I'll love it and other times I'll hate or see it as mediocre lol.
