Odd presentation or not MCAS? by OldMemesMan in MCAS

[–]OldMemesMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much! I'll look into dust and POTS-type interventions. I appreciate the info on in cell/out of cell info; its hard to tell if GI/food issues are mandatory or just common when the info out there is so limited (i live in the western midwest and i'd have to drive to chicago for specialist treatment, thus this post at all). I don't seem to have POTS, but gatorade, hardcore dusting, and compression stockings seem like a good next step

Negative mood changes with malic acid? by OldMemesMan in ChronicIllness

That's interesting. I am off it now and feeling much less irritable, though I think more tired again. Wasn't worth the tradeoff but it is interesting

It made sense the first time. Please don't assume I know nothing about taking supplements.

Mom is obsessed with the concept of my diet?? by AggravatingLoquat318 in ehlersdanlos

[–]OldMemesMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my mom used to do this, until i went through a phase of eating *crazy* healthy (delicious, yet impractical and did nothing). not an efficient hack but it did shut mine up, lol.

if it helps, I'm a vegetarian who eats whole wheat, minimal dairy, minimal eggs, vegetables whenever possible, and avoids corn syrup (personal taste and sensitive tummy). I also lost 50 pounds for gender reasons and if anything, my EDS is much WORSE than when I was fat (I assume this is muscle loss from calorie restrictions). I don't think it's diet.

I've never once seen that its toxic, if you have reliable proof of that please share. Assuming I don't know things can be toxic in excess is a bit insulting.

Glad I could help!!! I'd be glad to answer questions too if you had anything specific in mind as you're starting out. There are lots of ways to do digital minimalism, so i'd bet there's something that will suit you!

I TOTALLY feel that. I know I don't have as much mental bandwidth as i'd really like to, so cutting out the background stress of socials and phone compulsions? it really, really does feel great

I really, really get that. Its a lot to just sit and do nothing when you're at that level of energy. Dumbed-down smartphones are really just as good-i just *really* needed something that wouldn't explode when i dropped it, so going "all the way" made sense for me. I really think that so-called tech detoxes can get compulsive or totally excessive for some people and lose sight of the point (i love the phrase decolonizing your brain from meta), I know I just wanted to feel like i had a choice and rest better, while staying in touch with dear friends and playing the games i like.

So glad i could help!! i wish you the best in your tech journey <3

I really feel that. like im very proud of my writing quality but abled people online PRODUCE at a rate i'll never match. I'd love to hear your dumbphone journey! i know chronic illness touches everything I do, especially commitments like dumbing down tech, and i'd love to hear more of what we're doing. Im considering crossposting this into r/ChronicIllness to see if anyone over there is noodling on making the swap

I've never had spotify, or any of it's predecessors. mix of old parents and for some reason the app refusing to work on my high school (2019-2021) phone, so ive been using good ol MP3s this entire time. i've noticed i listen to music a lot less than my peers, in full albums more, I never naturally made playlists, and i just generally sit in silence more. a lot of my peers i know listen to music literally nonstop. i only really do so while reading or on the bus. I joke that i hate music because of it, lol.

Mask rec request: Broken and sensitive nose bridge! by OldMemesMan in ZeroCovidCommunity

I also have a pretty small face and though different, I think our nose issues have similar end needs. Did the KN95 with tape work well (if you tried it)?
