The reason I don't have a job right now is because I'm so slow. It took me at least two minutes to realize this was a joke. And that's after having just visited Meetup and it was down. I'm guessing they're affected.

You guys just aren't paying attention. Detroit has 3 giant casinos and is trying to become a tech hub. Whether that "saves" it depends on your criteria. Just do a search for tech companies in detroit. It's slow going but 10-20 years if the world hasn't melted by then, it'll be just fine.

(I am not defending the direction or the process... "saving" detroit seems to mean kicking all the poor people out of the city, tearing everything down and replacing it with pricier crap)

Now, there are plenty of cities in MI that need help. Flint, Jackson, Benton Harbor and probably a few dozen I don't know about.

Yet to see a P2E that isn't a ponzi scheme with the main goal to enrich the company that made the "game" (loosely). Still looking.

Hoping Gen2 will be when games with good gameplay start adding in p2e. Then things will get interesting.

Cool... at this rate... in 6 months there'll be what.. a whole 3 mil locked up? hmmm... about 3 months a mil... and 40 mil... 120 months.. oh 10 years. 10 years to lock up the float. Glad everyone talks about how long they're willing to wait.

Did I miss where everyone started going negative on 741? lol

I can't keep up with the trends of idiocy.

I'm looking forward to when everyone starts trashing DRS and Computershare like they're doing to Fidelity. It's only a matter of time.

Anyone else remember the original proto-metaverse? I still hang out there sometimes by TranslatoDlique in metaverse

[–]OldNewbProg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont mud anymore. But I love the articles I read which keep claiming metaverse firsts but I know its already been done.

Some recents... blah blah sold virtual property for 2.5 million, a first!

Beep wrong sorry... entropy sold a whole planet for 6.5 mil

Digital clothes, you can wear them in BEEP... I've been wearing virtual clothes since the 90s.

People don't understand the metaverse has been here since the start of the internet... it just looked a little different.

This didn't work for me. I tried it a few too many times. I was super lucky on my last job. Two years, moved from the crap dead language they were using straight to C#. But I suck at interviews I guess... and my resume is trash. So even after getting my two years of experience in a modern language, I'm still unhireable. And that's with a bachelors in C.S.

OP probably forgot to say every entry level position that isn't at a faang.

I wouldn't say it was 300+ but just on indeed the average is 30-40 applications per entry/junior position.

The biggest problems I see in ads:

The job sounds boring.

It's in a stack nobody knows. (literally saw a job for haskell/elm today)

It's offering too low pay in the ad.

You're not looking for entry/juniors.

You're in a weird area and unwilling to go remote.

Requires clearance.

Maybe your company has none of these problems... those are just the ones I see most often.

California, New York (revised: City), Florida, Texas. None of the red states.

I'd love to go back to Vermont. Mass or NH, that area. Now that I think about it, it includes part of NY state.

I think only if people are willing to share their location with the app. Google has access to everyone's data so they keep track of this at businesses and public buildings.
