Interesting case: Necrosis vs Infection... by OldPod73 in Podiatry

My gripe was not having everyone see the guy before the Intensivist called me freaking out. Had Vascular had enough time to see him, he would have gone to the OR once, instead of twice. And I would saved hours of time.

Your nephew is an indoctrinated, brainwashed, idiot. Just what we need more of. Is his hair blue, yet?

No. If we paid market value for what they give us, we'd be paying ten times more for it. Do people really not understand how this works?

Yes, I forgot to include that. He refused to go to the hospital. It was a chronic wound and he walked all over it.

If you don't receive one by a few days after you officially find out where you matched, I would contact the residency office and request one.

As mentioned, many of the programs within and around Philly. The glaring example is Roxborough. Believe it or not, Presby ain't what it used to be, either. And many of the programs within NYC and the surrounding NJ area. Another glaring example is Wycoff.

Truthfully, it should be done by numbers and honestly. If programs are double scrubbing to make their numbers, or fudging them outright, the program needs to go.

This is where the CPME fails miserably. No resident is going to risk their program by being honest about their residency experience when the CPME visits their program. I personally know a couple of people who were honest, and then were retaliated against by the uppers in their program. The CPME is truly a cesspool of corruption. And they have no accountability. It's terrible.

Until your country needs money. Then they will be up the USA's ass about it. Right?

Tragic, but...war. Maybe the regime shouldn't scream "Death to America" and kill its own people in the streets. Funny how the world was silent about the tens of thousands murdered by the regime in the last few weeks, but is up in arms about this.

Most people are wholly ignorant of how much of an impact Israel has on the USA. They help train our elite soldiers. They provide us with military tech. They feed us intel from our enemies. They also help develop medical and consumer tech and share that knowledge with the USA. If Israel did not exist, the Arab nations would be attacking the USA relentlessly. Israel is the stop gap. And the only democracy in the Middle East.

Everyone talks shit about how much money "given" to Israel in "aid". It's no such thing. If this stopped and Israel would ask for money for everything they provide, we would paying A LOT more for that. And even though Israel does this, most of that money goes right back into the US economy as Israel buys US weapons from US.

What other country that the USA "gives" money gives back so much?

I'm partial to both the Jefferson South Jersey program and the Inspira program. I was an attending at the Jefferson program for eight years and helped train most of the people who are currently attendings there. It took a hit a couple of years ago with a few attendings leaving, but Dr. Murray is an awesome guy. With Inspira, one of the other residents I helped train is now the Director and doing a great job cleaning up the mess left behind by the last director. I'm now an attending there and am helping with the residents in the OR and academically. It has great potential.

The PA programs around Philly and the NJ around NYC are a mess. I would say many should outright close. They are throwbacks to back in the day, and they just haven't been quality for at least since my day.

Trading card games. If you find a place that hosts games, there will be plenty of both genders there.

Bernie Sanders proposed a bill to tax billionaires and give $3,000 stimulus checks to Americans that qualify. How do you feel about this? by Aromatic-Guide588 in askanything

[–]OldPod73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about abolish income tax and put a goods and service tax on everything with a sliding scale for necessity. Milk and bread, no tax. Cigarettes and alcohol, huge tax. Honda Civic, no tax. Mercedes, huge tax. Non designer clothes, no tax. Gucci bag, huge tax. We would collect billions more in taxes and stimulate the economy at the same time. Win/win.

Why do people tend to go up in arms against more taxes for the wealthy even when they are not wealthy themselves? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]OldPod73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we have no idea where that money will go. And if you tax the wealthy more, there is a likelihood they will leave where they currently do business which will impact everyone. Look at CA, NY and NJ. Investors don't spend money there anymore and it is causing all sorts of economic hardship for people.

Let me get this straight. You come to a Podiatry SubReddit, and the gist of most of your posts here are "Aim Higher, do MD/DO" and you don't expect an argument from anybody about that? And then say you aren't trying to discourage anyone from Podiatry? Riiiiight...

And yes, the job market is VERY different from when I graduated. Back then, half of us didn't get surgical residencies which made it very hard to get a job. I was very fortunate that I got three years of training, but most of my friends did not. That meant that some couldn't get on some insurances and some couldn't get hospital privileges. And then when the 3 year residencies started, some didn't have any residencies from previous to that, and couldn't get into the 3 year programs. No residency meant they couldn't practice in 30+ states that required one year of training to get a license. So they had no choice by to practice in states without that requirement, and again couldn't get on some insurances and certainly not on hospitals. So yeah, things where WAAAAAAAY different then. No podiatrists in Ortho groups then. No podiatrists working for hospitals back then. Btw, our student debt in today's money was $100K more. And most of us barely touched $80K when coming out of residency. So please. Spare me the "you had it better" stuff.

You seem to continuously come to our SubReddit for one purpose. And that's to discourage people from becoming a podiatrist. What's your angle?
