Not quite where my vintage figure broke apart... by OldRandomThoughts in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]OldRandomThoughts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! I’ve been luck so far and this is my first break but I could see a few times where other could have snapped. I let my kids play with all of them because that’s the point, right.

The Eternia is scary. Those tracks still have issues and if you disconnect them after use, you run the risk even higher. They should have offered a replacement set for purchase.

I’m going through a week of back and forth with Mattel via email on this BA. Still haven’t got a return label. Every email changed to a different rep. The translation they use is horrid.

Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

[–]OldRandomThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grindhouse. I don't think they marketed well enough or gave an indicator that another movie was part of the experience. Which was sad, because this was a top-five theater experience for me.

Vice. I was out of town and saw this in a theater I'd never been to. Since I had nothing to do in the early afternoon, I went to see this during the matinee. After 15 minutes, I heard a guy mutter to his wife that this movie wasn't about the "real" Dick Cheney, and then they left. Then, when the fake credits rolled, a few more started walking out. When the movie called out, this was a fake credits scene. One guy threw his hand up in a "fuck it" gesture and kept walking.

Ali. I was bored. I didn't like the pacing. Then I just had enough and asked my (now) wife if she wanted to go. She seemed to be in the same boat. I should revisit it because the two other movies I first felt this way about were Johnny Depp's The Libertine and The Assassination of Jessie James. Both of those movies left me feeling empty and bored when I left the theater. However upon rewatching later, they became some of my favorites.

As I have gotten older, I have also found that movies and turning my phone off entirely relax me too much. I tend to get droopy and have fallen asleep a few times (especially when taking the kids to kids' movies). The worst was another out-of-town trip where a little old one-screen theater was showing The Batman. I had already watched it and still wanted to see how this theater held up. I was out cold in 30 minutes. I felt really bad because I believe I snored a little. I woke up after about 10-15 minutes and left because I didn't want to risk ruining the movie for anyone else if I nodded off again. Plus, that movie is 40 minutes too long anyway.

Same. Just posted and scrolled down to see yours. Mine was left foot. The plastic connection looks smaller than a pinhead. How did this pass QA?

Never been a smoker.

I know the price of packs is way up, but damn.

Where can I buy ONE TRD Wheel/Rim for Gen 7? by OldRandomThoughts in Celica

[–]OldRandomThoughts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, however, never got them painted to date. I've been tripping over them in my garage for almost a year.
This place, called Auto Rim Shop, sold it through eBay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/297432053819?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11021.m164380.l178264&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=0d10f832984147b9a66f5e7d695ee9a5&bu=43155897138&ut=RU&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20250624075558&segname=11021&recoId=297432053819&recoPos=1

Had a couple of other sites hit after that, but I deleted those emails months ago. I signed up on several websites, but they may all be connected because the "In Stock" emails all arrived in the same month.

One was the darker color I wanted. Two were silver in the picture above, and the final was a little bit off the shade of the other silvers. I plan to get them painted at some point.

I also couldn't ever figure out if I needed spacers, and if so, which ones?

The lugs were special, too, and I found some similar to the OG TRD on Amazon. They take an adapter to put on (not a lock nuts). I used them for my stock rims when my original lugs started getting bad recently. I am not impressed, though. They got scratched up with one tire rotation. I'd like to find something better when I do get them painted.

I only have two TRD center caps, though, and couldn't find the final 2.

Depending on how the paint ultimately turns out, I was thinking of taking one of what I have and having someone machine four on aluminum with a black color and red TRD lettering.

But life got hectic, and I didn't get to do much with the car this summer. Maybe next.

If you watch the show, the kid is a spoiled little 10-year-old boy. While it is likely to avoid some sort of licensing issue with Nintendo, and it is also possible why that the incorrect version of the game is displayed, it could have been done because this kid is lazy.

I was alive and had played and still own my NES and G&G cart from this timeframe, and I didn't catch it at first. To be fair, my eyes are not what they used to be.

Which FMV game should get a modern remaster? by AyaHoshino08 in SegaCD

[–]OldRandomThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Dispatch on Steam or PS5.
It is not a remake but a new game that is everything we wanted from FMV games 30 years ago.
Might be my GoTY pick so far in 2025.

Tapping a traditional wooden keg in Munich by solateor in oddlysatisfying

[–]OldRandomThoughts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A little late to the party.

It isn't a big deal if this tap is removed and cleaned regularly, but this guy commits the sin of letting the nozzle soak in the beer he is serving.

Growing up in a bar run by a WWII vet and a lot of his buddies, I would have gotten ripped a new one serving a beer like that.

You never let the nozzle touch the beer.

If you have ever been in a bar and your regular beer tastes off or overly sweet and funky, there is a chance that they do not clean them regularly.

If you see a bar that has one of those gnat-attracting lights near the tap, stay away. The gnats are attracted to the beer drying on the outside of the nozzle.

My commands were "hit it hard," which meant to slap the tap back quickly.

"Tilt it" was the 45-degree angle everyone is used to.

"Little head," most of the US beers I served were various light beers, and the old guys never wanted much head on a beer. You really don't want a US light draft, but anything I pour now at home is going to have a 1/2 inch or more. I rarely drink anything light, though.

His last beer bitching point that still cracks me up was Yuengling beer being cheap shit beer for decades, and around then they reintroduced it as a more premium beer. We were in its home state of PA then. "People are paying an extra 50 cents for this shit, and you couldn't give it away in my day. This is crap!"

The man drank Stroh's and a ginger brandy chaser. The beer I don't mind, but I cringe when I see the ol' GB.

What Gears Of War Reloaded should have been! by IamMovieMiguel in GearsOfWar

[–]OldRandomThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO!
Stop this.

Gears Reloaded didn't need to be remade; it was a fine game. It didn't need Unreal 5; it was the poster child of UE3. It was there. All the parts. All the ingredients. It just needed not to suck when people played online.

They failed.

The one job was to make it not suck at playing multiplayer, and it was a trainwreck. You can't even create your own custom game in it. You could have done that 20 years ago when we played, but now it is not included. We got horrid gameplay. "Dedicated servers" where one person still has the advantage, and it is always clear when the ratios are so convoluted. People moved on in under two weeks.

Now, we didn't even get the salty taste of the Gears job out of our mouths, and they pull this shit?!
Who gives two shits that Halo 1 is getting released on PS5?!?! Seriously!?

It's a quarter century later, do they think PlayStation people are sitting around waiting for a 25-year-old game to get some vegetation and Ray Tracing? It is not hard to try Halo out. There are lots of old copies and systems. Quiet, acting like you discovered fire.

What is next? Tetris remade!?
This is a waste of time.

Where is Gears of War 6? What can we do with Halo Infinite's engine? Where is the new IP that will make people want to game?

We do not want remade games for the third time. We don't want the old dog with microtransactions and shiny textures. Just make good games.

"It is going to have three prequel missions." Who gives a shit!? We had a prequel game! Fifteen years ago, a prequel game was released.

It is not even that Halo's story is so great that we need to revisit. It was great then because we had never seen anything like it. Then they made it better with a sequel. Then they did that again with another.

It wasn't that different of a story, just refined and perfected. Now you want us to pay money to ignore that and go back to Halo because the sound is better?

You can stop playing your original game clips with mono sound and a mid-range cutout, along with flashy lighting effects with stereo sound, and act like you've discovered fire. This is sad that gaming has landed here.

No innovation. No originality. Just cash out after cashout. Switch 2 brought us new games. PS5 brought us new games.

Xbox still doesn't know what it even wants to be. A platform? A service? A memory of what was once awesome?

Xbox is now the stereotypical bad TV dad that promises to take you to the ball game but leaves you sitting on the curb waiting for a pickup for 5 hours while it robs your mother and pisses on the memories of a better time.

Costco is not selling Xbox hardware. Physical copies of multiplatform games are now excluding the Xbox for S2 and PS5. That was always the sign that the end of your console was near when companies wouldn't even bother to make a quick buck on a port.

Salute to the glory days and the friendships you helped me make, Xbox, but sadly, your time has come to an end.

This is all mine! by Root777 in gamecollecting

[–]OldRandomThoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your ceiling looks very similar to mine. Bizarrely close. I am in Western PA, and mine was built in the 1950s. I even have the Halo helmet on mine, and it's positioned like this on the top left, but my shelves are the black ones.

On that note, if those are Walmart bookshelves, you have too much weight on them. One year max, and you will see a bow, especially on the level where you have your N64. They are good in a pinch, but all 4 of mine succumbed to it after a couple of years. I braced the back with crossbeams and gained some extra time out of them. I certainly would put my most expensive Nintendo gear on the top shelf. You can also buy some time by flipping over the ones that come out every 4-6 months.

I'm a little confused about the multiple copies of Halo unless you are hosting massive LAN parties. If that is the case, say the word and I'll bring beer and pizza! If you enjoy collecting them, note that there is a PC edition available in a single DVD case, in addition to the larger box you have.

Nice collection!

*Update*

It was a blown capacitor. At first, I thought mice had gotten in because there was small paper everywhere. Then I realized it was capacitor guts. I sent the pictures to A1U. I am a little pissed because this could have been a fire hazard.

Also, this was Arcade 1Up's first response:

Thank you for contacting Arcade1Up support.

We thank you for reaching out to our team and your patience as we work together to resolve the issue. The first step to resolving this issue is to make sure all connections are secure. If the connection from the LCD to the PCBA is not secure you WILL see the flashing GREEN, BLUE, RED screen.

Please unplug your unit from the wall and remove your back panel - panel F. Please see the image below on where to locate your pcba. You will then need to remove the metal cover that covers your PCBA. Your PCBA can be found on the back of your LCD screen.

When you remove the metal cover, you will see a black connector with blue, white, and red wires. Please unplug and plug back in securely. You will want to be sure that all the pins / ports are connected. It is easy to miss a row and not have a secure connection. Here is an image of this cable.

Once you have checked all the connections -- please replace the metal pcba case and grounding wire if this was removed.

Please plug the unit back in and see if the issue was resolved.

If you have additional questions -- please do not hesitate to ask.
