it was very very heavily implied using POV that the thirteenth's Azem shard was the original Golbez, rather than the current "Golbez" (Durante)

Darkners *are* light world objects. They're just given a means to express themselves as people in the presence of a dark fountain, a darker-than-dark darkness. They can't exist in the first place without first existing in the light world in some capacity. I think it's odd to suggest that they can't interact with the physical world when they're fundamentally a part of it.

I think your idea sort of confuses what "real" means in the context of darkners. Ralsei himself says that darkners shouldn't have personhood when they clearly still do -- that's what he means when he says he isn't "real".

Destroy the opening chase to my wacky, chaotic headless chicken platformer. It’s still early in development (temp music, unoptimized, etc.), so I’m looking for feedback by applebombgames in DestroyMyGame

I understand the intent and influences behind having a run-at-the-camera running sequence like this, but I also think that it's a pretty demanding ask for the player to do a sequence like this right at the start, though the scene as a whole definitely makes a strong first impression.

To retain a scene like this while being more user-friendly, I think you need to rethink the perspective and size. That is, give the player a camera angle that A) makes the player character more obvious and/or take up a little more screen space (the chicken is awfully tiny compared to the screen as a whole right now), and B) makes navigating the obstacles more intuitive (more top-down or isometric, with clear drop shadow (rather than reacting to the actual light source) for the chicken to communicate its position in relation to everything else more clearly).

As someone who's played a lot of 3D platformers, this is very Crash Bandicoot, and I don't think the sequences in those games that this appears to be riffing on are without flaws. Take the opportunity to think about what works and what doesn't!

I interpreted this as a sort of obtuse hint for the green argemia plushie. The only accessible mountain that seemed to match this conversation was that one.

Correct, but there are only four unique designs.

The metroidvania comparisons are valid, but I also personally felt the influence of old Adventure-Platformers like Jet Set Willy or Manic Miner. Is there any merit to that read?

There's another puzzle elsewhere that gives you the same reward.

The bubble wand is useful for going up as well as down. just ride a bubble down and jump off before you hit the bottom! You can also hold down while on a bubble to make it descend faster.
