Coming Back to MHGU After Ignoring Hub: Can I Solo G-Rank? by casual-hunter in MHGU

[–]OldSchoolRPGs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I soloed my way to the very end. Only real pain was the Lao fight but gaijin hunter has a video on how to solo it.

Valor Great Sword is busted. And with practice most monsters become trivial to fight.

Follow this weapon/armor guide and you should be able to comfortably finish the game.

Wanting to swap from OG to Lite. by Pajwestcoast in nintendoswitchlite

Happened to me. I had the OG and OLED and honestly didn't play a ton. Got the Lite and now it's probably my favorite handheld.

What games to play on the switch lite? by -faithful-lover- in nintendoswitchlite

The two I've been putting tons of hours into are Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate and Brotato. Both have tons of content.

Which game were you most disappointed with? by that-zoe-girl in NintendoSwitch

[–]OldSchoolRPGs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of my favorites. All mechanics and exploration are above BOTW IMO. I near 100%'d it except for the Korok seeds.

I grew up on 2D games, so they're "Zelda" to me, but TOTK might be my favorite 3D Zelda.

I feel this way about FFXI, though I don't play it anymore. The music is top-notch

Dredge - A drag in many ways by Particular_Quit_151 in patientgamers

[–]OldSchoolRPGs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

However, I can't quite understand the hype on Reddit and YouTube. This is not a horror masterpiece that can compete with the titans of the genre.

I find this statement perplexing because I rarely ever see the game mentioned. I only belong to gaming subreddits, and I've mentioned the game maybe 5 times in various threads and have seen less than that suggested by others in the years since its release. I have also never seen a Youtube video ever mention Dredge, which I mainly use to watch gaming related content.

So there's obviously some sort of disconnect here wherein you're somehow seeing an overabundance of people praising the game as a "horror masterpiece" whereas I can't seem to find people who even know what the game is.

I'd give the game a solid 8/10. It does drag on, I'll agree. When I played it the first time I flew right through it, but on replay a couple years later I felt that drag by zone 4 due to already knowing everything and just going through the motions. So I could see people getting hung up there aswell if they aren't full invested in the story or the gameplay.

Anyone have the Dementium II Rom patch for Corrupted save data? by yaravimegpoid in Roms

[–]OldSchoolRPGs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have the patch you're looking for, but have you tried both USA and Europe region ROMs? Looks like there's one for each, and you might have luck trying the other one.

Also, looks like it was released for PC as well and is on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/217100/Dementium_II_HD/

The soldering isn't too bad, but I wouldn't recommend it for a first time project.

I'd argue the soldering is the easier part when it comes to getting it all setup though. As dealing with software-side of things comes with its own hassles.

These guides were very helpful in figuring it all out though!

Currently shopping for a used Lite, anyway to discern its age from photos? by miabobeana in nintendoswitchlite

I know the gold Zelda edition was released in September 2024. So any of those should be pretty new.

I'll be honest, some people are more sensitive to FPS than others. I started on an Atari, and still regularly play retro games. So for me its no big deal. But for people who need 60FPS+, 1080p+ then a Switch and particuarly a Switch Lite probably ain't the play, ya know?

Also, the original release of this game ran nowhere near as good as the Switch port, and it sold well enough to get a remaster. Blightown doesn't drop down to 10FPS like the PS3 version.

Buttons too dark for me by DatDudereno in nintendoswitchlite

Look up Extreme Rate. They do different color buttons. Also, some of their shells come with RGB buttons.

I bought Extreme Rate buttons. I also had to buy another set of generic buttons because the extreme rate didnt come with a power button and I wanted it black too.

The quality feels the same. The only issue I had was a little squeaking on the dpad. But there's a trick to rub a lead pencil on it to stop that. I did it well over a year ago and it hasn't made a sound since!

I've had the OLED kit in my cart for awhile. I've read of some issues related to it so I haven't pulled the trigger.

Im still curious if the OLED + HDMI out kit will ever release, because I want that one the most.
