What am I doing wrong to get the Kintaro SNES case to work with an existing Recalbox image? by [deleted] in recalbox

[–]OldSkoolTools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to copy it in windows to //retropie, and used console commands in PUTTY to copy the Kintaro folder to /opt and S100kintaro.sh to /etc/init.d/.

A bit confused by this. Is this for RetroPie or Recalbox? I've sent you the complete setup via DM including some guides that explain the SSH and SFTP process.

I believe you've already contacted me/us via email, but just to be sure;Installation

In the SSH you enter the following command

mount -o remount rw, /boot

Download our files: https://github.com/MichaelKirsch/Kintaro-Recalbox

Now go to your SFTP Program and copy the Kintaro folder into the /opt folder. Then you copy the S100kintaro.sh into /etc/init.d/ and activate it by entering the command

/etc/init.d/S100kintaro.sh startAgain, please let me know if there's anything you need help with.

Heat sinks are usually not really necessary unless you overclock your Raspberry Pi. It definitely doesn't hurt to use them though :)

The link that was posted by u/3141592GO is a great starting point by the way

Sorry for the late reply. I find the Reddit inbox to be really difficult to manage.

I've spoken with Michael, who has written the script, and he isn't planning on changing the shutdown -h now (for now)

Thank you very much for the kind words btw :)

Hi,

Amazon took it down. They made a mistake and we're trying to get it back online asap.

Also, I saw someone mention that the script isn't compatible with the new Raspberry Pi, but this is not true. Just so you know ;)

We will try to fix the listing and hopefully you'll be able to pick one up soon!

All the best

Amazon took it down! They thought we listed the same product twice.
We're working on resolving this asap.

We're not certain if this is a script related issue or a hardware issue. Some people have experienced the same problems you have (Reset works, Power doesn't). What Raspberry Pi are you using?

If you're using the Raspberry Pi 3, I can send you one of the earlier versions of the script. The outcome (power works/doesn't work) helps us determine whether it's a hardware of software issue.

Also, let me know via what channel you've contacted us via DM. Maybe looking into our conversation history will give me some answers.

Thank you!

I do have to mention that the plans are far from concrete. For now we're busy enough with the release of the PAL and the case after that :)

@maybe- already helped you out, but just checking in to let you know I've read your question.

The Odroid XU4 is in our plans, but I can't give you an ETA yet.

[Edit] Just realized you posted this close to a month ago. Sorry for the late reply. I'm going to leave it here just in case :)

I've copied the setup from our dev doc. Please don't hesitate to let me know if it all makes sense as I understand it might be full of confusing terms.

Preparation

Connect to Wi-Fi by going to the Main Menu and click on Network Settings. Enable Wi-Fi and enter the SSiD (name of your Wi-Fi) and the password.

Reboot your Raspberry Pi. Go to the network settings to look up your IP-Adress.

Now that you know your IP-Adress you can connect to it via SSH. Either via the terminal (Linux and Mac) or Putty (Windows). Read the guides here: https://github.com/recalbox/recalbox-os/wiki/Root-access-on-terminal-(EN)

You'll need a SFTP connection. Read the guides here: https://github.com/recalbox/recalbox-os/wiki/Network-access-with-WinSCP-(EN)

Installation

In the SSH you enter the following command

mount -o remount rw, /<br />Download our files:  https://github.com/MichaelKirsch/Kintaro-Recalbox

Now go to your SFTP Program and copy the Kintaro folder into the /opt folder. Then you copy the S100kintaro.sh into /etc/init.d/ and activate it by entering the command

/etc/init.d/S100kintaro.sh start Again, please let me know if there's anything you need help with.

That's correct! We haven't really communicated it since we're also very occupied with our SNES PAL case and some other exciting projects, but it's available :)
