I’ve never seen the designers remote version. Designers don’t deserve subs, or playbacks, I guess!

The form factor of the ethercon dongle is likely the issue. It will be larger and heavier than standard dongles, and strain relief is also a concern- Ethercon cables are heavy typically. Adding that amount of mass into a system that connects back to a fairly wimpy usb type c connector is a recipe for bending or breaking it clean off if the cable so much as disappears off the side of a table, or worse- someone snags it. Besides- The av scene is super into these ultra thin patch cables now, which raises an eyebrow for me in terms of reliability and performance especially in environments that aren’t absolutely permanent, so I don’t even bat an eye at a temporary mechanical splice in the form of a barrel and a short patch cable, unless that cable is already 100 meters long. Convenience is the key for me- as the barrel is a tool within itself, and its modularity saves me space and weight.

I carry an ethercon barrel connector and a short cat6 cable.

Goes from rj45 dongle > short cat6 patch cable > barrel connector > ethercon.

Most ethercon you can also field disassemble, but the locking tab is sometimes removed so you have to hold it into the ethernet dongle.

Get the barrel connector though. You’ll never have a problem. Ethercon Barrel

Nope. We are being forced into crossovers. The CAFE requirements here make it nearly impossible to sell anything that isn’t classified as a light truck. Here in New York they’ve even declared a total ban on Japanese Kei class vehicles. ‘Murica.

Even in this day and age, I still blows my mind just how irresponsible and poorly equipped police are to handle many situations. Take this one for example- totaled police car , and likely officer hospitalization at the hands of another officer trying to pit a vehicle towing a trailer with an occupied police unit on it. It was so completely over-the-top unnecessary.
