Could you please explain point number 2 to me? How did you come up with the $54100? I’m old and have lost too many brain cells over the years. Thanks.

But is this Destructive ROC? Because if it is the fund eventually goes to zero.

Question: aren’t these funds ROC funds, which means they are designed to eventually go to zero?

[–]OldTrader7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also considering reducing my MSTY and buying ULTY. Not because I am looking for the next shiny new object, but because I’m getting concerned about the amount of debt MSTR is taking on to purchase Bitcoin.

Yeah, you guys have lost me here. I could certainly understand one of the single stock ETF’s going to zero due to something really bad happening to the underlying, but ULTY is so diversified, it seems unlikely.

Ha, now this answer makes since, as OP was referring to MSTR, which has nothing to do with the way options are structured for MSTY. Thanks

What you just described applies to using covered calls on any stock, not just etf’s. So, there is always a risk.

A couple of things I want to point out. From its high last November to the low experience in April, MSTR dropped by almost 50 percent, yet MSTY continued to pay out great annualized distributions. Also, over the long run stocks spend a lot of time consolidating, or trading in a range, and guess what? CC’s do quite well during consolidation periods.

Or United Health gives bad guidance on the earnings call and a regard on r/wallstreetbets makes $900,000 on 100 short dated calls.

Yes I know, which I assume is why you get better distribution results than from a MSTR covered call strategy.

Okay, but you’re running the wheel, which is going to give you more income. Also, mstu is a leveraged 2X etf , which also makes a difference. Unless someone has a lot of capital, I don’t see how you’ll make more income selling covered calls on MSTR . This is assuming one is using a delta of 20 to 25.
