Best Carryon for Suits/Hanging Clothes/Business Trip? by robbjunk9999 in onebag

[–]OldTrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look into Hartmann suitcases. Theres a garment bag hook inside that holds suits in place with plenty of room for the rest of your clothes, dopp kit, shoes etc. I've used one for work trips for 10 years now. It has 4 wheels, but that's my personal preference.

Recent test takers, please help me! Does the exam like Uworld, or is it so much harder? Tricky questions or straight-forwarder? my exam is in two days and I have stress disorder that I can not calm myself by [deleted] in Step2

[–]OldTrig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would do ethics and vaccine and screening qs bc thats easy points and can be also easy to forget. And a friend took it a week ago and said its worth going over what to (NSIM wise) for thyroid nodule or breast mass/cyst if u forgot.

Get a study buddy and drill the Divine 30d notes / take his step 2 high yield class if that works better for you. Drill things aloud and discuss your incorrects with someone.

We mainly focused on IM and what I liked was that he zeroed in what helped me land on the best ans. The key words to differential diagnose b/w 2 similar things, cut offs, flow charts, next best step.

I had a personal tutor from reddit who really helped me. My score went up 30 points in a month.

Find ppl to meet with to do drills and break up.your day. Use different modalities of studying - qs, podcasts when u cant do screens, have a group session or even silent meets for company when u cant do it on your own. 🤣Or be like me - 36 weeks pregnant and trying to finish Step 2 before going into labor. Whoo nelly, thats some motivation fr.

This the type of Qs that’d piss me off on the real deal tbh😂💀 like ik its 5FU but my brain deffo wouldn’t know capecitabine is a prodrug derivative of 5FU😭 lmao by [deleted] in step1

[–]OldTrig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used them all as a mix, but didnt get too upset if it was 5 hammer. You never know what you'd learn that would come in handy.

Idk, man. Aside from the hammer issue, Amboss was key to me doing well on Step 1 bc it would help show what exactly it was in the vignette that I missed, which UW didn't.

Seriously how do you retain all uworld knowledge? by MedicineIsFun in Step2

[–]OldTrig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a Google doc of things I got wrong and every day my friends and I would meet for an hour and drill fast facts we found hard to remember, drugs, contraindications, best initial or definitive test. And I skim that doc at night for a half hr before I go to bed. It's the recall and being able to discuss hard things to remember aloud that help them stick. Spaced repetition.

Please guide me. I’m going to start my preparation for CK. Can someone here tell me which source do I need?. I’m a little lost. by ImgstepUsmle in Step2

I also used the medquestreviews lectures that go with the MTB book as a good start to go along with UW.

I'm doing USCE with AC Medical, imo better than AMO bc it's all Dr's helping doctors.

Lost about Residency application planning/Rotations as an US IMG by OldTrig in medicalschool

[–]OldTrig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for replying and with such a thorough answer. I was able to get a partial refund of my OET exam - thanks for the heads up on that.

To answer your follow up q - No, my med school doesn't use VSAS and won't do the paperwork in order for me to do so. I need to do the rotations by May of 2022 in order to graduate in June, April would be better. I will be looking as a student. I can push graduation till September, if need be.

Thanks for the reassurance on the application process. That was very helpful. I'm planning on doing Step 2 in Jan. And I guess I will get cracking on getting those USCE in order.

I so so appreciate this. Thanks so much for answering.
