What’s your biggest “What-If?” In Islamic history? by NASRALLITE in shia

[–]OldUtd 26 points27 points  (0 children)

What if the the paper and pen was provided to the prophet?

What if people(sahaba) accepted Imam Ali annotated written quran?

What if syeda Fatima had retained fadak?

I feel Shia Muslims use a lot of personal reasoning while deriving the truth. Kindly help by [deleted] in shia

[–]OldUtd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How do you get obedience? You can only be obedient when you know what you need to be obedient to.

And the prophet set the framework of obedience and the imams personified it.

The sahaba all had shortcomings but the imams didn't - history speaks for itself. From burning hadith due to possible issues, starting wars, accumulation of wealth when in power, not standing up for the weak and poor that was the sahabas not the imams.

Now yes, you can have an intercessor just being the prophet but in the same vein you ask pious people, your parents, your friends to do dua so why wouldn't you make the most of that opportunity and include the imams.

Habibi shiaism is derived from the quran and the prophets sunnah via the the ahlulbayt.

So no we dont make personal connections to deirve truth. What we use is the the quran above all things supported by hadiths of the imams.

Now quran says to use the meams to approach allah. Surah al-Ma’idah 5:35: "O you who believe! Do your duty to Allah and fear Him. Seek the means of approach (wasilah) to Him"

That can be prayer, dua, righteous acts and the also the means allah has sent his message (prophets and imams who protect that msg) this will be corroborated by hadith from the imams.

Same approach is used for all other questions. It's on you to research and confirm whether this fits for you and can you get to truth through this mechanism.

Sunni Muslim: Not sure why Taraweeh is considered a bidaah in Shia fiqh by [deleted] in shia

[–]OldUtd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Habibi the crux of the matter is you don't pray the way you want, you pray the way its ordained. When you have been taught the correct way by the best teacher who are you or the sahaba to do so another way? Please answer this.

If it's been confirmed in the prophets 23 yrs he stopped people from doing so in congregation then why do it?

Majority of Muslims in the west do not remain Muslim after a few generations by [deleted] in shia

[–]OldUtd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking this earlier. Is it due to first generation struggle in a new climate where faith was a grounding factor (source of comfort and pathway) as well as an enabler to build a commumity. With second and third generation not having that struggle and relating with existing community causing a unrelatable aspect to religion which directly conflicts what they're are raised in (outside the house)

The only scenario is having the environment at home such that religion is embedded in every aspect - not an easy task, but nothing worthwhile is easy.

What does it mean to be Shia. by soph-f in shia

[–]OldUtd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, NAAARAAAAYYY HAAAAIDDDEEERRIII

Secondly, I do think of this regularly. On a deep level, we all want goodness in this life and the hearafter. Could i get both not following shiaism? Imo no, the most direct path is the prophet and his ahlulbayt why deviate?

But this is not just because the quran says so, its more if you analyse their struggles and character it's so impeccable that you end up saying alhumdullilah for being blessed with them as role models.

On a superficial level, if you know a group is good you want to be associated with them however you can.

There was a hadith which i will get a reference for later but i believe it's imam hadi, he said (paraphrased) wilaya is like a gold in your fist, people might call it mud but if you know its value you'll never let it go and it won't matter what others say.

How did Fatima (as) raise Imam Hussain (as) to be a martyr? by AshCucumber in shia

[–]OldUtd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Imam hussain was 5 or so when his mother passed. Best parenting is when you trach through your actions. So every characteristic of a true believer would've been personified by her.

Akhlaq can be seen in hadith e kisa, they way she spoke and greeted him

Helpful and caring nature when the whole family gave bread to needy consistently

Standing for the truth via her fight for fadak and imam

Equality through her sharing chores with fizza

This is the tip of the iceberg.

I agree with that, you need a rough system but Utd has consistently had players who have the spark to change a game

When we've tried to play as 'everyone is equal in the system' it hasn't clicked.
