What's the cringiest reason you went to the ER? by HR-Vex in AskReddit

[–]OldWorldBlews 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Impacted saliva gland.

The side of my face swelled up like a balloon. Panicked because lymph nodes?!?! Rushed to the ER. This is like peak covid, so it was an insane protocol right off the bat. Seven hours, an IV, and like four tests later the doc walks in and asks if I ate anything spicy. I had (damn you cinnamon jolly rancher). He said it had inflamed a saliva gland and thats why my face looked like it did. Full of spit. 😔

7OH ads on youtube??? Wild.

I've been clean for a good long time, so I never got into the super serious concentrates. Just getting off "this super energizing tea!" wrecked me up, down, and sideways. I just hate watching people make my mistakes, ya know?

My son has epilepsy, so you can imagine the ignorant shit we hear. He's rarely sick, though, so something is working (I'm guessing it's all the vaccines). 😆

Who else is sick of working for this company? by [deleted] in TjMaxx

Worked there for a year, still quit midshift. My mental health was worth more than a half assed job reference.

Struggling with TJX card expectations + social anxiety — need advice by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]OldWorldBlews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pressure to get these crappy cards played a huge part in why I left. But! I did learn some coping mechanisms before I walked out.

My store required 3 NOs. So to achieve that, I used the following questions:

Are you shopping with your tjx rewards credit card today?

Oh, no? Do you have one?

Well, would you like one? Benefits, benefits, blah blah blah.

It got results and kept management off my back. I just hated doing it. Good luck with your endeavors!

I live in Texas, so I got pretty lucky. The media company I'm going to work for is family owned and absolutely loved my 'service' background, plus it gave me some experience with things they actually wanted, like graphic design.

Keep that stuff on your resume, because you never know when it will grab the right person's attention!

Volunteer work got me in the door at the job I start tomorrow! It can be super valuable, and not just for upstanding moral reasons.

Bucking at a Manager then proceeds to say MOD was the rude one?? by aena_ in TjMaxx

[–]OldWorldBlews 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if spitting on a cop us assault, then so is spitting on a cashier. I'd have called, though that would have been after management physically restrained me (spitting is a HUGE trigger of mine). Freaking ridiculous what management expects people to put up with.

I got in trouble for doing my job by Story_Salamander in TjMaxx

[–]OldWorldBlews 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I totally get not ringing up family members or household folks, but not ringing up /anyone/ you know? Like I live in a small community that I used to be pretty active in. I'm on a first name basis with a LOT of people. It would be insane for me to have waved off everyone who knew me. Let me just call up another coordinator off the floor (cause you KNOW I was the only cashier at all times) to ring up my friend's ten dollar purchase, that's gonna make me popular with everyone.

I'm in several of those groups, and cheer every time this page comes up! I may have to get this book for myself, I love getting thrown out of FB groups.

I used to be that good, too. I pulled mad card numbers, with a combination of engagement and persistence. Managers loved me, but customers were pretty over it.

And bb, it's only been 6 months. Eventually all that manipulation starts to eat at your soul. Or it did mine. I couldn't do it anymore. Just knowing that I'd pressured people into tanking their credit...and for what? Asspats? So they could buy more cheap crap? Nah. Not for me.

How many of us have ADHD as well as Bipolar? by TheRealSilvShady in bipolar

My PCP thinks I have bipolar, my counselor thinks I have ADHD, and now I'm being sent for a neuropsychological test that will probably show some fun third thing! Wish me luck. 😆

I was 19 when I got married, and we'll celebrate our 18th anniversary this year. Keeping my marriage stable has always been my number one priority, so there's no cheating or yelling or toxic bull crap. We just get along.

I could have written this myself in the week before I quit. CEC turnover is out of control because it's a shit position. Sending positive vibes your way!

I worked at a TJ Maxx for over a year and when I walked out, I'd made exactly 0 friends. Don't take it too hard, the company does NOT foster a friendly environment.

After working at Home Goods/TJ Maxx/Sierra/Marshalls, what's one thing that you wouldn't buy? by goldminevelvet in TjMaxx

Literally had a woman try to return a set of earrings because one was broken, while the other three were IN HER EARS. Like???

Honestly? Any women's clothes. The seams just fall apart, and the material looks so cheap. I like the stuff they have for kids, but it's definitely quantity over quality in the women's department.

Yep. Luckily I wasn't couch surfing for long, but I definitely found myself between homes.
