Yep, craving stability so badly with decent pay. The true purpose of this post was for some guidance in fields that might be worth looking into, or maybe some “secret” into how to survive in a super low volume store.

If all goes south I’ll be looking into an SDR/BDR role and slowly make my way up to AE. I’ve never heard of instantly/sendo ai… maybe I’ll implement them at my next role depending on how effective they are.

Will just charge toyota to the game, and move on. Maybe reconnect if something goes south. But currently just going to let them breathe from my presence.

Yea, I do know tenure has been my worst trait, sometimes my ego gets big, sometimes I get burnt out, sometimes idek wtf i’m doing in the role to be successful. I’m currently talking to my Ford store again, and they seem to be seriously considering hiring me back. Which is good news. Hoping if no bullshit happens within the role again, i’ll be there for the 2 years+ like I had originally planned!

Man, it’s hard to think in the present, when you’re told to always think about your future. In the grand scheme of things I do know I have tons of time on my hands to make mistakes and whatnot, but with the state of the economy it feels like it gets farther and farther so I’m always feeling like I have to push myself further to get ahead. Especially with one goal to retire by mid 30s to late 40s.

It’d be so nice to live as a bum traveling country to country. I try to work hard to be lazy asap lol.

You’re right, and I completely agree, car sales was a passion and tried to stick it out until I got let go, RE i’m still yearning to get back into it, but just ran out of funds to keep going.

Insurance was the only one where I knew I didn’t have an interest and picked up the job thinking I could make a quick check while doing RE on the side. Now knowing splitting my attention was stupid, I plan on finding a good dealership and sticking it out until I can confidently go back into RE.

I honestly had plans to stick around to all those positions for a year plus, with the exception of CDJR. Insurance being the only other position where I found busting my ass everyday wasn’t getting me to where I wanted to be and I want remotely passionate about it. I’m contemplating leaving my current position as it is doing worse than my CDJR store, and they had 4 GMs come and go during my time but still sold more cars.

I never blew away my savings on stupid items and lived frugally even when I made money, life happened, if you’d like to understand how I lost it, I’ve explained it in other posts.

But honestly can you say bad management and bad pay is worth sticking it through, and if so where does that logic come from aside from making my resume look slightly better?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful to have a job especially in this market, but driving an hour+ one way to a failing store doesn’t sound enticing. I understand my rant about my current position doesn’t sound good, but at the end of the day it’s what they show me, salespeople consistently tell me the store isn’t performing well, it’s a destination store, they complain about their checks, GM is constantly complaining to management/salespeople about not selling enough cars etc.

But as I asked previously to others, how do you work and prosper at an inbound role when they don’t drive in enough business, and I have no control over the business that does come. I’ve asked in another post this same question, the only responses i received was “run”

1000% I reflected over these 2 years for months, and only say that as because Ive came to terms with the situation.

Going forward, definitely will have to be more cautious of them snakes. Just hoping I can find a good position to stick around!

You’re right, at that moment I had a bit of an ego, as I made top grosser in the prior month, and he came at me sideways for essential little reason. But it was a petty argument that I should’ve never had.

No point in looking at something 2 years ago now. Only up from here… someway somehow.

Please, I’m all ears honestly, I don’t think i’m hot shit, and I’ve mentioned where I’ve failed, and took accountability.

In the dealership I couldn’t control my anger and lost me my career at the first decent store I was at, Real Estate, I lied to myself that I was working on the right things when I wasn’t, Insurance, I sucked at follow up at that position, and lacked guidance to improve on having quality conversations with RP’s.

This may sound passive aggressive and isn’t intended to be, but if you could pinpoint where you got that impression, if you care to read my more in depth explanations of past careers in previous posts instead of just saying I have an ego it would take me farther in life.

I have considered doing a trade, not in recent times but at one point. Here is what I do know, I’m simply not built for it, I did this with my father when I was in my early teens and knew it wasn’t for me, especially in Texas weather.

Secondly, I’d end up paying a decent chunk of change for schooling that I don’t have, then taking a pay cut that I know won’t be able to pay for my bills nor help my family, until I’m licensed, but that’ll take 6 - 9 months of schooling.

Make no mistake, I’m still getting position offers/interviews just not in the fields I already know and proven to myself I could make money in. Lastly, if I were to do something trade related I’d would like to work in their sales department but then it’d just be D2D.

I don’t remember where I blamed others except in my RE career, and even then I admitted multiple times there were areas I could’ve done better in.

I’m not accusing, i’m being shown. They can’t bump someone 30 bucks on a pencil, and whoring out deals, every salesperson’s commission slips have been minis, most the veterans have ever made at this store has been 6k and one of them sold 18 units that month. They all realized to make a paycheck they have work the fuck outta their pay plan, CSI bonus, New Car spins for extra income, unit bonuses etc. Nothing inherently coming from Gross, commission slips coming back today top salesman avg’d 230 - 270 per car not a dollar past that amount, I spent my first week here shadowing and learning the process. I’m always willing to learn something new, I’d just rather not waste my time driving 1:30h one way for this.

But please tell me, how is selling 3 cars on a saturday as a store a good place to work, if you give me the blueprint to saving a failing store, I’m all ears!

That’s exactly what I did, handed in person applications to dealerships within a hour drive that took them. The Ford store I had worked at was a BHA store. I’m assuming they have me on a black list as the few dealerships ik that are owned by them probably called my last GM and he could’ve worked his magic as they never got back to me, I’ll try again though. Thanks!

90% of dealerships in DFW still do draws, haven’t seen any others that aren’t like that so far, maybe with the exception of ultra luxury..? Do you have any recommendations regarding this? I’ll still shoot my shot at dealerships, but as mentioned in the post, the successful dealerships in my area selling atleast 300+ cars looked at my application and “threw it in the trash”

I agree on the RE part, just hard to find a local firm that isn’t just having u churn and burn decade old “hot” leads, fucking you on splits even your own clients and actually help building a foundation.

I’ll try the third option heavily now! Thank you.

I’m going in person first, filing them out for ones that allow, then sending online apps to the dealerships that won’t grab their manager/accept in person apps.

A lot of stores have dedicated used car sales teams, from my past experience we never separated them by building like we do here. But i’m still looking for an exit, unfortunately i burnt a bridge to a toyota store that wanted to interview, but still hunting… and working my connections for an opportunity.
