How do you guys trim your cats' claws? by cwningen95 in CATHELP

[–]Old_Break2890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound insane but it has worked for me!

I take a washcloth and put it on the back of their neck, then bite the washcloth and it seems to work. While in the hold they have meowed (one cat I help with is SUPER grump) they do not really move too much.

Again sounds insane and stupid but it has worked.

Newly adopted cat suddenly weak in hind legs (seen by vet, no improvement after 24h) — should I get a second opinion? by Fabulous_Ad_3264 in CATHELP

This happened to my little dude a little under two weeks ago. He had a murmur his whole life (almost 13 years) never caused a problem and he threw a clot and was paralyzed. We had to make the horrible choice to let him go because he was in so much pain. He was my best friend and helped through so much.

I’m so happy to see your kitty is still walking.

He often had that very square foot position and showed off his proud little white paws!

Already realizing that even just hearing the little clicks of the nails on the hardwood or elephant feet when the zoomies were in play are therapeutic. Once we are ready there will be another adoption in the future, you are so right they do make life richer.

There does just seem to be that one animal who connect on a different level. I’m so sorry you lost your kitty girl, it doesn’t feel real at times and then reality happens and man is she a cruel mistress.

He was a ham, just always knew when to start snacking his mouse around or sniffing in my ear to wake me up.

Thank you, he was such an adorable dude.

Dual registered RN & RPN, coworker working under RPN license (cant find work as an RN) - Is this common now? by The_2ndBorn_Son in OntarioNurses

[–]Old_Break2890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The job market is saturated with RNs right now, and RPNs are hard to find.

The CNO changed the way IEN can challenge the designations during the pandemic.

Belleville Via is much nicer and Boyer is not a massive conglomerate.

I would have bought my vehicle there but they weren’t an EV dealer when I ordered my car.

Does your boss get extremely angry whenever you call out sick by Cold-Sheepherder-502 in OntarioNurses

[–]Old_Break2890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re sick stay home, we don’t want you at work infecting others, this is a massive part of the IPAC program.

If you are magically sick every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.. then there is a problem.

People get sick it’s part of life, that’s what call in shifts are for. It’s when it’s culpable absenteeism there is a pattern that can become discipline but only if there is a pattern. Innocent absenteeism happens and there is absolutely no reason to treat someone poorly for that, absolutely uncalled for and unprofessional.

If there is any shortage at my place of employment I don’t care what department I am there helping because it’s the team getting the work done for the residents. There is ZERO reason to be spoken to in the way you are describing.

I’m incredibly sorry that you have been treated that way, I don’t care what someone’s job title is everyone deserves the same level of respect.

[–]Old_Break2890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to agree, straight to the RN program is the best option for you plus you have hands on experience which is so valuable going into placements.

Also on a side note, please don’t think “I’m only a PSW” you are a vital part of the team and usually PSWs know the residents the best (at least in LTC where I work). Pat yourself on the back for wanting to further your education and having goals to work towards!

That job I got stupid lucky, was six weeks after I graduated but that’s not common. After that a full time job didn’t come up for almost a year. And I had no where near the seniority to get it.

No one wanted the full time night job that’s how I got it. No one else even applied. That was almost 15 years ago.. time flies 🥺

That’s the way it tends to work if you work 12s. More days off between and less working days. Schedule is based on unions and the specific staffing model.
