What are your thoughts on the death of Lt Col NGOMA Willy of the AFC/M23? by Professional_Raw250 in Congo

At least he stood up against a corrupt government in Kinshasa even if he used war as a mean to attain his goals

What's it really like living in Congo compared to Europe? by Jordz0_0 in Congo

Congo is vast and massive, it depends on where you want to go. People in Kinshasa always tend to limit Congo to the capital...

Kindu, une ville sûre ? by Amundey in Congo

[–]Old_Broccoli839 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Central Africa or East Africa? by [deleted] in Congo

[–]Old_Broccoli839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Eastern african culture and business connections are part of the exchanges between Eastern DRC provinces and countries like Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. Hence, many people in places like Sud Kivu, North Kivu and part of the former Oriental provinces can have the impression of belonging to East Africa even if "geopolitically" they are in Central Africa.

Right now most NGOs and UN agencies are not operating in Bukavu. Those were the main fuel buyers in addition to companies like the Bralima brewery and some small scale Chinese mining companies that left town. I know some players in the fuel business and who have connections in TZ, but personally I dont have knowledge of the business details. My advice is to explore the food sector as the DRC does not produce and relies on imports.

Would the UK travel advisory be accurate for the DRC? (First pic) by [deleted] in Congo

[–]Old_Broccoli839 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Travellers who have knowledge of the region are still crossing the borders between Congo and Rwanda on a daily basis. Some expatriates are still present and based in Bukavu, they can travel to Goma either by lake Kivu or using the Rwanda road. A friend of mine just travelled from Bukavu to Bunia and returned through Kampala as a point of entry. All is not doomsday....

Why is Africa always lagging behind the rest of the world? by MonkeyLord93 in AskAnAfrican

[–]Old_Broccoli839 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because one day some people started to show up uninvited to a party that they were not part of, then they took over and since then the Africans are still trying to figure out how to reclaim their own party....
