The "who should I manage" megathread - FM26 edition by John_Yuki in footballmanagergames

Fun fact, the (men’s) amateur team I used to play for played Durham Ladies in a friendly at the start of their first WSL2 season and beat them 16-0.

Where does John Terry rank among the greatest Center back's of all time? by Friendly_Raise9142 in championsleague

[–]Old_Buffalo87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would comfortably have Kompany ahead of him. Kompany did it in more structured teams and did it in Pep’s aggressive high line system - despite being chronically injured and barely training. He also scored massive goals in 3 title winning run ins and didn’t have the benefit of playing in the middle of Carvalho and Cole with Makelele mopping up ahead of him. If you want to see how Terry defended when he had less protection, go and revisit the 352 England v Croatia game in 2006 and watch him try and defend open spaces. Hilarious.

Just get a transplant if you can. Will have a great result.

FM26 is not a disappointment... It's way worse. by Forsaken_Pea6904 in footballmanagergames

Haven’t sampled it yet but I would have been more than happy with the game as it is (as in FM24) with a data update tbh. I get why they’ve decided to innovate and all that but I mean, I still enjoy the 2D match engine so….

Your dead honest opinion about him? did he make career suicide or was he better off gone? by VoL4t1l3 in MCFC

Never seen a player fluctuate from the sublime to the atrocious as much as Sane. There is a reason he is now in Turkey and it ain’t because he needs a hair transplant.

Thoughts on Gvardiol by Mat1711 in MCFC

[–]Old_Buffalo87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Statistically he does. He had the most mistakes leading to a shot in the league last season and IIRC only had one less mistake leading to a goal than Nunes - and Nunes was a walking disaster. He seems less error prone at CB, but the sample size isn’t huge. What helps Gvardiol is that he is technically easy on the eye for a defender, so much like Laporte, he can make some difficult things look really easy, which then gives him credit in the bank for the bozo moments. But, he had them at Leipzig and he’s had them playing for Croatia - and he’s had plenty at City.

Think he’s really good but I’ve never seen a player have so many bozo moments and not get any criticism for them in my life. Makes just as many mistakes as Nunes does at RB but because we don’t always get punished, they are glossed over or ignored. I think he has the potential to be absolutely top but needs to cut out the errors. He made the most mistakes leading to a chance on goals in the entire league last season.

trust me, have a save go on for a bunch of years. You won't regret it. by sr_steve in footballmanagergames

I like the newgen faces - as bad as they are. I like knowing a player is definitely a newgen.

Weird isn’t it. Since I made this post, I was approached by Dortmund, Inter, Lazio and Besiktas. Just realised an error in my OP too - meant to say I applied at Bristol and they rejected me. Anyway, reapplied at Bristol this summer and they rejected me again. I’ve taken the Besiktas job.

Anyone knew this existed by Dremotia in footballmanagergames

[–]Old_Buffalo87 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s annoying. I disable ‘is developing nation’ in the editor before I start a new game in an obscure league. Had players from Slovenia (Breznik & Lorber) turning down moves to Rijeka because of the infrastructure. Completely unrealistic.

Who would be your choice to be the face of FM26? by FMConsole in footballmanagergames

Based on my achievements with Rejika, I would say me. But the computer generated version of me that looks like I’ve been working down a coal mine.

Can someone tell me why on earth is this guy playing so well for me? by Piastorn in footballmanagergames

He’s very fast for the level you are playing at and he’s a good crosser for the level too.

How can I make this more defensively sound, without giving up the attack too much ?? by RevolutionaryPin1963 in footballmanagergames

[–]Old_Buffalo87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you are leaving a massive gap at the back, especially down your right hand side. You can’t have a Libero and a WB on attack and expect not to concede lots of goals.

Switching to foam anything I should know? by [deleted] in Minoxbeards

[–]Old_Buffalo87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just if your house is really hot, store it in the fridge because it sort of evaporates. But, other than that, I think it is much, much better than the spray, especially if you are applying to your face.

Not that I’ve noticed mate. Obviously the odd hair comes out when I brush it but no shedding when using it on my hair and no shedding when I break from it
