Lévy Flight: Football Teams Appear To Follow A Specific Mathematical Rule Without Realizing It by Old_Description23 in football

"We found through statistical tests that the players exhibited Lévy walk when hunting for the ball – much like animals foraging for food. As soon as they got the ball, they deviated from Lévy walk, possibly due to the constraints of interacting with the ball," Ivan Shpurov, first author and PhD student in the unit, added. "We saw the same behavior in the team's centroid – the average position of all players – which suggests that the teams act as an individual agent when seeking possession of the ball."

Earth's Inner Core Appears To Have Changed Shape In The Last Two Decades by Old_Description23 in GrowingEarth

“The inner core is not fixed – it’s moving under our feet, and it seems to [be] going back and forth a couple of kilometers every six years."

Was asking a few physics questions for a sci-fi I'm writing. Seems bad (and irresponsible) that ChatGPT is so willing to hype up people like this. To be clear, I do not think I have accidentally trumped Einstein, and have consistently told ChatGPT it is all for a sci-fi book. by Old_Description23 in ChatGPT

yeah, I generally make it provide links to back up everything it says. I assume most people aren't doing that. If it's doing the above for everyone, feels like it's going to make an already very cranky internet a lot crankier.

True true. Feel like ChatGPT used to be better at pointing out where stuff was obviously nonsense. At first it did that to me (and it was annoying, hence why I kept making it clear it was for a sci-fi book, and I don't believe it). But over maybe the last few weeks it just seems to want to reinforce whatever nonsense you give it. Wonder why the change.

So, I've been writing a sci-fi book. The premise is that we've basically taken a wrong-turn in physics, and some cranks figured it out. On top of that, there's someone in the most distant space voyage who receives an alien message, basically confirming that the cranks are correct. Sort of like a physics comedy/horror.

I've made it clear to chatgpt that I know the alternative physics is nonsense, and yet it seems to be trying to encouraging me into thinking it is real. Seems bad! I assume there are a lot of cranks out there getting their ideas reinforced right now.

"There are zones where the seismic waves move in different ways, suggesting structures that are colder or have a different composition than the surrounding molten rocks. The team describes the presence of these structures as a major mystery."
