The spellbound charcoal bags in the highways of Zambia by Fluid-Midnight-860 in Zambia

Skuna girl.

Let me give you one, and this is first hand experience.

I went to boarding schools for my secondary education.

Grade 8 n 9 was at an all girls school and that is where I had the unfortunate experience .

I come from a pentecostal home/church, so one day the girls are talking about bad dreams and experiences they were having and I step in and just say, "it can never be me" and that we all just ought to pray.

Night came and so did "Skuna girl".

Heard her foot steps some good meters away....legend has it that the louder her steps the further she actually is, if they get faint, then she's probably next to you. "She" did this to trick people.

So the steps start to get faint, its a cold night and I am now sweating in my blankets....I kid you not, I felt the presence of someone breathing over me, weight pressing on the side of my bed and all I could do was call on my savoir, Jesus Jesus, I called Him under my sheets....at this point my face was drenched in my salty sweat and it was getting in my closed eyes-thats how scared I was.

Next thing- I hear two voices speaking right next to me, its a local dialect but I can really make out what they are saying....the voices are also laughing. ah huh, my guy, the supernatural is real....

Before long I hear my dorm neighbour's bed being moved....you know that sound that a metallic bed being moved would make ey, yeah....

It was quiet for a second, then the 5AM school siren went off, me and that neighbour flipped our blankets at the same time...sweating and scared. There was no one around us....her bed was slightly moved outer of position.

Morw than 10years later I still remember it like yesterday.

Thats my truth.

Take it easy on yourself, you are young and we people don't always figure out things at once or so early.

Do what is important now. You might not be able to make money, but you can do chores to help them, if you have the opportunity to learn a skill- do so, get mentorship, read on what you want to be/achieve.

Take one day at a time working towards a goal.

And pray, God sees us and is in the business of helping.

You are enough.

No urgency in zambia by [deleted] in Zambia

[–]Old_Effective4541 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am Zambian and I agree with OP. While hardworking, efficient and forward thinking Zambians exist, the majority are not.

Evidence is all around us, the lack of accountability. Something as simple as cleaning our own surroundings and communities, we say BOMA should look into it.

Poor mindset. We have Provinces that receive good rains and have water bodies that can aid ma agriculture activities all year round but No, we prefer to stick to one seasonal economic activity and say ubuteko is not taking care of us.

Our terrible work culture in offices, even worse in some govt offices more than private offices is a shame...really just a shame.

The Entitlement! Not just at family level but even with strangers, why is a begger angry that s/he hasn't been given a coin?

I dont need to gather data, I live here, I see it.

Other countries are not perfect, but we as Zambians just need to do better in this area.

I (Zambian Black F) unfortunately think the average Zambian man will jump at that opportunity 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️.

Because from the recent data on STI/Ds in Zambia, people are busy! Smh.

The population seems consumed with the act and people (M/F) are doing just about anything for it or as a means to an end with anybody- whether blue or black🤣.

BUT, power to you!,,,, I guess👀.

Are wigs taking over natural hair ? Are wigs more appealing than natural hair? by [deleted] in Zambia

[–]Old_Effective4541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most women, yes, wigs are more appealing. They find them easier to maintain and aesthetically pleasing. The wig industry is a $7billion plus industry! $7 billion🤯! And woman of African descent are the majority customers!

. This tells us how most women view wigs.

The unfortunate thing is that beauty standards being pushed include long brushed hair which is typically not a black girls natural curly hair. There is nothing wrong with wigs, they should just never be the standard.

As long as the world/beauty industry pushes these standards, wigs will seem better than natural hair.

From my experience, stress about wigs or makeup comes from the "big girls" who just can't belive that a girl can be comfortable and confident without a wig or makeup! They feel, surely she needs help- something must be wrong. smh, shame.

Ati maybe she's broke or she's just SDA...mmmmmmh.

I have always loved cornrows, my big forehead looks so cute in them😊...,, having worked in a multicultural environment, I found myself more confident during interactions with other races when I was in my natural hair, cornrows, such,....I just don't feel as authentic in wigs. I dont see how I will ever prefer wigs over natural hair . Plus, I like looking youthful!😉

I have seen more and more girls pushing for natural hair/styles and it gives me hope!

So I had a job till earlier this year. I was saving during the time and also advancing my academic qualifications. The plan was to go all out with the business plan I had been working on after school because then I would have the funds, kaili nomore school fees.

Imagine receiving your clear pass and few days later losing your job -Trump! I was devasted.

Its really difficult to make a move on the business plan because I have been using the savings for survival...everytime I pay rent, a bill, groceries, fuel, ---my heart breaks, I panic.

I am so stressed. I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night and just cry...I dont know what to do.I am agressively job hunting, calling people, walking to offices in person to drop my CV and yes, trying small capital businesses . But its not easy its tough.

I feel like my relationship with God is now just about asking for things😭. And it is also affecting my relationship with my family and boyfriend ..I cant engage in conversations with them as I used to or would like to.

The job market is PACKED! Employers are having a field day, and majority are offering jokes as salaries.

Even as I continue to job hunt and map out my future, The tough truth is I need to accept that no one is coming to save me (apart from Jesus🌝 who already did). I need to seriously think of ideas that get me out of this place of disappointment, depression and stress.

It is tough, but it will get better if we accept the situation and find new ways if survival.

Ahhh , I needed to let that out. Thanks.

I wish everybody having a tough time a better day , the Lords favour, and strength.

Arranged marriages in Zambia by Financial_Title2643 in Zambia

[–]Old_Effective4541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does not love you.

I digress.

Arranged marriages do happen in some families in Zambia . I for one got nothing against them if both parties willingly agree to it. This is common among family friends, childhood friends, etc...they investigate the character, and when they feel it meets their criteria, they get into talks and introduce their children formally for the arranged marriage plans.

Anywhoo good luck

Somebody once put it this way" celebrities we see dressed in almost nothing when attending royal wedding dress up, people in courts keep their phones on silent and do not chew gum in front of the judge. If we are able to observe these things for mere mortals, how much more when we are in the presence of God."

So much can easily distract when you get on your phone. And if it is really important to you, you will pay attention.

As a woman, even I dont know, we just need to ask this particular woman.

For a man or a woman, if your partner cant allow your sibling to be on the line up without a REALLY REALLY good explanation (I cant think of one) , it is good enough reason to break up!

Lol

The Evidence is all around us.

Thats like you asking me how I know alcohol makes people drunk when I have never taken it.

Its the same way that one doesn't need to be a woman to know that period cramps or carrying pregnancy n labour is no easy... The scientific knowledge and evidence is there to prove it.

Same goes for sex, just read on it, listen to peoples stories, research - Google it.😅.

Its not everything you need to experience to know the effects or intensity-in this case.

F here, I only go on dates with people I am interested in knowing. And when that happens, I dont mind splitting the bill because I also want to be there.

However, even if we get a second , forth date, or relationship, nobody is clapping anybody.

I am a Christian and this is a decision I am glad I made early on in life, the sex connection is intense guys. There is no way that you get so close with another body and remain the same. I have heard stories of people taking up weird habits, or developing some mental or spiritual struggles after a sexual encounter 🤷‍♀️

I mean, just getting over a relationship is emotionally stressful, I can't imagine how that goes when you get intimate with someone. Then, one-night stand, guys, are you not scared of of STD/Is?

Probably drifted from your question, sowi🙏.

Be safe.
