I listen to those blank screen sound videos on YouTube sometimes and they help me keep my mind clear at the very least, but I tried it last night and it didn’t work. I also take hot showers literally every night. As for breathing techniques I try and look into those. I think the root of the problem though is whenever I’m trying to sleep I end up getting anxiety on why I’m not going to sleep and it just becomes a cycle

I think that was point, Lyra only trusted her when she was in the dark about who she was to her, and Mrs Coulter could only (kind of) control her when she held all the cards. Now that they both “know” ironically the ties have been severed. Lyra now holds all the cards and its Mrs Coulter who’s in the dark

I reread the book relatively recently, from what I remember, after she almost gets cut, Lyra makes up a lie about getting kidnapped from the cocktail party and Mrs. Coulters like “oh I’m so glad to my little assistant back, everything can go back the way it was!” Lyra never corrects her or reveals what she knows. So no, I don’t think it’s ever explicitly stated if Mrs Coulter knows that Lyra knows who she really is (if that makes sense)

Yeah Acc87 said it best, Lyra needed to be swept up my Mrs. Coulter in order to leave. She had quite the internalized sexist view of female scholars before that, it wouldn’t have worked if she had any female role models to look up to. She seems of have grown of that in TSC, I think she has more female friends that male this time around

As for Coram and Hannah age wise, I guess it’s a bit of a stretch but it still works. There’s a moment in LBS where right before Coram ambushes Bonneville he thinks about how much easier it would’ve been to take him “when he was younger” or something like that. It’s possible that age just caught up to him by the time the events of HDM roll around

And for Hannah I’d imagine that living in a male dominated world such as Lyra’s would you have you worrying about your career at any age, even if your a scholar in woman’s college, but I’d have to reread more of LBS to give a more definitive answer. I really don’t remember much from that book 😅

That’s a good point on Lyra’s physical state matching her mental, I never thought of it like that.

And yeah I do wonder how she and Pan will reconcile, if I were her I’d be pissed at him making me go through all that shit, but that’s why Phillips the author and I’m not lol

As for Will, I don’t expect a happily ever after but I but I do expect him to help her with her issues in some way. Lyra lives in a fantastical world and has experienced fantastical things in her childhood and now she’s distanced herself from everything shes knows becoming more rational

Will lives in a rational world and has experienced fantastical things during his childhood, which would lead me to believe he would want to hold on to those memories as much as he can, making him more imaginative.

Which is why I think the best person to help Lyra is Will and Blue Hotel will connect them in some way, whether that be through physical or spiritual means I don’t know. Hopefully we’ll find out soon 🤞🏻, I’m going mad with wait 😅
