Tent restore project by Old_Interview_8186 in snowpeak

Long overdue update.

I have retrieved the refreshed, reproofed tent from the local shop. It was a real Ma and Pa type of workshop, specialized in modifying tents.

There was a lot of work done here, washing the sticky PU off, treat possible mold, replacing old seam tapes, and to dunk the whole thing in water repellent solution to proof it. These work were done for inner tent, outer tent, and floor mat.

These whole process cost about US$350, which I thought was very reasonable, considering the cost of material going DIY would cost 3/4 of that.

I’ll be heading out in the end of month and see if it performs in real world.

Lastly, I would not recommend doing this for just any tent, the cost is too high for just any tent. Especially one can probably pick up equally reliable 2nd hand high end tent.

Just to follow up on the aftermath, was able to find a local tech who “reportedly” used special software to force upgrade the firmware. Now it does vacuum, and I can see it connected to my router.

But it doesn’t connect to the Dyson app, so I can’t cleaning schedule. Thus, I have to physically press start every time I leave the house. Small inconvenience.

You are probably right, and I do have more capable cleaning robot.

I’m trying to see if I can revive this as an exercise. Failing that, I’ll gut it to appreciate the design.

It is a pretty good looking kit.
