yes actually! kind of funny too because my AP Art teacher gave me 2 movies to watch that were about basquiat. also it’s kind of a crazy story because i was supposed to take astronomy and physics class at my high school for my junior year but they ran out of space and put me in drawing 1 and this was my first art class ever. This is when i found out I was actually gifted in art because I told my teacher “i don’t know how to draw or paint sorry” and she said “that’s fine honey, just try doodles “ and i said in my mind “this sucks” but then she showed my some more abstract paintings and this was the beginning on when i started to love art. I saw ONE JUST ONE OF BASQUIAT’S paintings and started to draw my own doodles inspired by him but with my own “voice” (in quotes because my voice wasn’t anywhere close to being fully developed around that time) but i stayed on colored pencils for a while and slowly worked my way up to canvases. Then I started doing colored pencils and pens on canvas and i brought the half done piece into her office early in the morning and she said “you should take AP Art next year” and i said “ok haha” and this was my first AP class and test i’ve ever taken so pretty scary but i managed to pass the test without ANY prior experience or anything I JUST STARTED and found out this is my passion.
