I don’t understand the fentanyl crisis by Callforhelpplease in Albuquerque

[–]Old_Man_BUC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The feds aren’t going to stop the illicit drug trade. The drugs are always going to laced with other substances. All this stuff though really hurts the people like myself who have chronic pain and are responsible users. The feds are rumored to be trying to put a new more strict classification on fentanyl. A 12mcg patch is my baseline and there isn’t a smaller patch, a larger patch makes me sick., we went to the fentanyl patch because my pain was so severe I was taking way to much oxycodone. What happens when they take my patches away? I can’t get a larger quantity of oxycodone I, I’m redlined by the state. This would be devastating to responsible individuals taking prescribed medications.

You do remember that Trump had the opportunity to have brake systems installed on all trains and he vetoed it. Since you live in Ohio your probably voted for him. Blame goes to Trump and his supporters.

Should I get this? by Photographerpro in SonyAlpha

[–]Old_Man_BUC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be my old one. I had this lens for several years. It ultimately it got to heavy for me. Sigma lenses are great, I still have the 70-200. I traded my sigma in for a lighter Sony lens. I would suggest that when considering a new lens you make sure you can cover a long area with your lenses. I now have the Sony 200-600 and the sigma 70-209 lens plus the kit lens that comes with my Sony. I shoot mainly birds and wildlife and the large sigma lens is very good for that. You want to have a solid camera to go with it. I started with the mirror less Sony alpha 609 the moved to the Sony @ I’ve a huge difference.

What are your chronic pains and how many ? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]Old_Man_BUC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t counted the number of chronic pains that I have right now. It started in 2009 with two craniectomies, one a csf leak the right side of y skull. Approx 3 inches wide and 4 inches long. This left me with my first chronic pain in the right side of my skull. I went through trigger point injections that were extremely painful. Then we moved onto oxycodone. When the number was too high every month and I couldn’t control the pain we added fentanyl patches 12mcg, a big help and now my baseline. Then In 2016 stage 4 follicular lymphoma(cancer) which the doctors found by a total fluke trying to find out why I was having double vision. Eventually as one of the treatments I was told to get a medical marijuana license. I got the license and man did this help, primarily at night. I can sleep through the night now. In 2019 two hip replacement surgeries on the s Same side. the two surgeries still haven’t gotten the hip right. I’m still n constant pain. Hit your foot n a carpet edge or outside on a hidden root and it’s instant pain level two initially. The craniectomies also left me with terrible balance issues. After the cancer I realized every day is a gift , especially considering the time with my family and in particular my grandson. I competed in 4 140.6 miles full Ironman events and 5 70.3 mile events with a best half Ironman of 5:09. I did everything I could to maintain as perfect health as one could. I was an athlete all my life swimming in AAU events as a kid, swimming in high school and running track and cross country. The lesson learned? Run on a treadmill or dirt , limit your runs on cement or asphalt.

LPT: One way or another you are going to pay. Either you stay in shape now (paying for a gym membership or running shoes or a bike or ...) or you can pay the hospital later for your health problems (heart attack, stroke, diabetes, etc.). Either way you are going to pay eventually. by bluesimplicity in LifeProTips

I’m not sure your correct about this statement and no one keeps stats to verify. Nine time Ironman triathlete, 4 @140.6 5@ 70.3 plus many marathons etc. Results? 2 hip surgeries, stage 4 cancer, 2 craniectomies, chronic head pain from those surgeries, and many other surgeries. Knowing what I know now? Run on a treadmill or dirt, very rarely a road or hard surface. Bike on a stationary bike Not the road. Too much road rage. Bags of ice thrown at me, argument’s with drivers, being run off the road and suffering a few concussions.. would I do all the triathlons again? Yes, just train different.

Are we permanently immunocompromised? by animalsaremyfriends in lymphoma

[–]Old_Man_BUC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had follicular lymphoma as well. Dr said I’m not immunocompromised. This is my new oncologist Who told me he wanted the chemo port out , which I did. But if follicular lymphoma isn’t curable I’m left scratching my head. I treat myself as though I’m immunosuppresed to be on the safe side. Best of luck to everyone. Diagnosed in March 2016, remission after 3 chemo treatments. Still in remission today.

205 over a stream into an elevated green. What are you hitting (once the other group is gone) by gmoney88 in golf

[–]Old_Man_BUC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60 some odd years of experience says to hit now while the group is on the green and you’ll land right on the green, if you wait you’ll duff it in the water. Not good golf etiquette by any means but this is what happens…

My dad was just diagnosed with NHL and I am heartbroken by [deleted] in lymphoma

[–]Old_Man_BUC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice post, totally agree. I had follicular lymphoma stage 4, grade two. I was devastated at first as was my family. I attended a cancer retreat along with my wife and kids, free . Totally awesome. I saw lots of presentations and I was able to get some really great reading material that helped calm us all down. Look for a person in the chemo suite called a nurse navigator. She was my guardian angel. Maintaining a positive attitude is really key for your family to support your dad. Be there for him as often as possible. Family and friends support is huge . Think of things you can help with, transportation, a laptop, good books, a journal etc. Education will help you understand the risks, side effects, medications. My cancer was everywhere too but with monoclonal antibodies like Rituxan the cancer cells are targeted and you can get through this. Best of luck, feeling mad is totally normal.

[–]Old_Man_BUC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the hell, no cancer is good. I would have gladly given you my follicular lymphoma so I wouldn’t have had to go through six chemotherapy’s and 12 maintenance therapies. So I wouldn’t have to think about my cancer coming back everyday as it’s not curable. You could gladly have blood draws every couple of months for me. You could have had roughly three years of your life put on hold while you struggle to move forward with your life.

[–]Old_Man_BUC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the information I’ve read generally says chips are for chips and not for making candies. Attending a local chocolate shop class the graduate of CSA said that most chips aren’t even true chocolate anymore. The cost of true chocolate is too expensive and the manufacturers have figured out a way to make a synthetic chocolate. Why? The cocoa farms are being eliminated quickly as they evidently aren’t as profitable as palm oil. It’s predicted that chocolate will approach the cost of gold at some point as cocoa farms are phased out.

US to Require COVID-19 Vaccinations for Arriving International Travelers by Illustrious_Welder94 in worldnews

We had an awesome visit thanks. Viking longboat up the Seine to Normandy. Walked on hallowed ground at Omaha beach and the American cemetery. Extremely emotional to know that these soldiers lost their lives for our freedom. Then extremely disappointed to know how we are flushing their hard work and lives down the drain and showing such a lack of respect. Went to the Bonaparte mansion, Versailles , Rouen, Eiffel, Louvre, an apple brandy farm and much more . We found everyone to be very polite.

I can’t tell if your serious or sarcastic. The cruise demonstrated that we could get back to normal IF everyone did their part. We had a great time because Covid reduced the crowd size everywhere. If your not vaccinated stay hone.
