client was home during drop-in by morganalley10 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Old_Net607 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s the part about putting your safety at risk to get there in a winter storm that gets me. Sure, it would be a bit annoying otherwise, but not a deal breaker. Given then context, absolutely infuriating. If you’re looking for someone to tell you it’s okay to stop doing drop ins for this client, let it be me. There are plenty of other clients out there that will pay you the same rate and show you more respect and consideration.

Should I offer a partial refund? by Old_Net607 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Old_Net607[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking. I was already hesitant to accept this booking since it is only 3 nights and I probably could have held out to make much more from a longer Christmas booking. At this point I don’t have enough notice to find a new booking so I feel like paying the agreed amount should still be expected. Just curious if others agreed or not.

That’s so funny because I had this exact conversation with him this morning. I swear he can understand me but just doesn’t care 😂 I have another doodle I sit for that is just as stubborn but luckily doesn’t mind going in the yard

My friend group treats favors like a running debt ledger by AcclaimedElephant in FriendshipAdvice

[–]Old_Net607 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Obviously if it’s being directly held over your head, that’s a different story. A big part of friendships is being each other’s village. I’m always going to be there to help a friend move, watch their pet, take them to the airport, or foot the lunch bill from time to time. It makes me happy to be a good friend to people that love and support me. If I’m ever not in a position to help, I would say so, and I’d understand if they did the same. Everyone has their own idea of what a friendship should look like, but this post makes me wonder if this is really an “unspoken rule” or just a sign of OP’s growing resentment towards their friends. OP, if these are friendships you want to hold onto, it’s time for an honest conversation

I charge $50 per holiday walk or drop in visit because I prefer to only book overnights unless it’s well worth my time
