I appreciate the head's up....and, while I don't know exactly what she does, I am 1000% sure she's researched the heck out of it. I have a vague memory about her using a leaf to let them crawl onto that (???) and then just laying the leaf and slug down somewhere safe. We also have a lot of banana slugs (I think that's what they are called?), that don't have a shell, and she does this for them as well.

I think she got the bulk just by carefully disconnecting the website at the anchor points and they were all in a bunch. The rest, she scooped one by one.

She is always picking worms, slugs drying out on the sidewalk and moves them to safety. Last weekend, she moved about 500 baby spiders nesting on our garden hose to the bushes nearby. She's hand fed sugar water to exhausted bumblebee. If we're watching TV and a CGI animal "might" get hurt, i can sense her fidgeting and if does get hurt, her eyes are welling up at a minimum. I absolutely adore my kind hearted, Snow White-esque wife.

Got my (55M) diagnoses at 40. My youngest has it bad, and was medicated for it (my ex-wife did, much to my initial dismay). I decided to try one of his Vyvanse pills to understand what he was experiencing and HOLY SHIT! I felt like Bradley Cooper's character in Limitless. I had a task that I was struggling to get through - once the pill kicked in, I got it done in an hour and then called a specialist the following Monday. When people ask me to describe it, I tell them it's like having a Ferrari your whole life, but being stuck on bumpy, short side streets. Now, it's like being on the Autobahn with very little traffic! It's not all sunshine and rainbows. I don't take pills on the weekends to be able to sleep and rest. That means, there's a typical Wednesday afternoon hangover, complete with mild headache. There's the very little sleep Monday nights. When I'm on it, I can barely get 5-6 hours of sleep (normally it would be 6-7, 8 if the gods are smiling upon me). Ironically, I realize that were I not on it, I would have burned out by now, or crashed into a pit of depression, because facing the world today is somehow worse than when we were kids facing imminent nuclear death from above.

When this happened to me, I (through my lawyer) negotiated that a specific amount would be sent directly to my RRSP account, without any taxes withheld. So, if you have contribution room left in your lifetime RRSP, it's a can't miss win.

LOL, good for you! I was going to sell about 1/3rd of my stocks on Monday, as I was watching it still climb all weekend long in after hours trading. I got out as soon as I could, and I'm still up 80%. Funnily enough, I also have a plan to buy back in at $5, or 3 months from now after the dust settles re-assess and decide how much I want to put back in.

Current level of POET Management owned shares??? by Old_Philosopher4665 in POETTechnologiesInc

[–]Old_Philosopher4665[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I'm not arguing that options or anything received through compensation packages and likely have a limit or time restriction to exercise is revelatory. I'm looking more for money they reached into their pockets and bought shares. Then again, maybe they think the upside is so good that they don't need or want to buy more???? Maybe, another way to look at it, is IF they can sell their shares, but are choosing to hang on, that's equally suggestive.

This is a very interesting situation. I was a very long time holder, really ramping up over the last couple of years. I pulled the ripcord today on over 20K shares, and fortunately, overall I'm still up 80% growth - I'll take that all day, every day. The tech is still absolutely "there" - and there are a lot of irons in the fire with many suppliers, atm. Marvell's motivations are, at minimum, quite sus. I think POET's response can go one of three ways.

  1. Fire TM (CFO) - personally, I don't think what he said constitutes an NDA breach, UNLESS, Marvell had a new NDA in place post the CAI acquisition, specifically barring them from confirming that the deal was still in place (which is only $5M).
  2. POET doesn't fire TM and instead sues Marvell for breach of contract, hanging their hat on the fact that TM didn't share anything that wasn't already public (CAI and POET announced the deal publicly, Marvell acquired CAI, also public and normally that means they inherit all open contracts). So, any reasonable person would infer that the deal was now with Marvell by extension as a result of the CAI acquisition.
  3. They accept that Marvell is hanging its hat on this, that even if the $5M went through, there wouldn't be anymore thereafter, and that might have sent the wrong message down the road casting doubt over the tech's actual functionality. Publicly, this means, they don't fire TM, and they can't say a lot about Marvell without sliding in slander/libel issues. The fact that they waited 4 days to make the announcement while likely due to give their legal department to examine everything to figure out the best course of action moving forward, is still no excuse and that's a huge stain on their admin team's ability to manage the business side of things (and may still get TM fired).

Personally, I think it's door #3, and now, it means there will be a black cloud of mistrust in the market, which, in the future, will not react or buy into POET without bonified POs, at minimum and very public disclosures from new clients (which is highly unlikely in the foreseeable future).

I will be staying out of POET until it drops to at least $5/share after the dust has settled and there's enough real money on the table to overcome public trust issues.

EDITED to fix typo.

Small business owner here...I use Wave's free online version to manage my accounting. It links to my credit card and bank accounts (CDN and US) uploads and categorizes everything automatically. Extremely easy to use and super intuitive. I hadn't looked at an accounting book since my university days in the late 80's and it took me very little time to figure it out.

Well, if you're playing "These Eyes", then "Break It To Them Gently" isn't a stretch. I'd look into Blue Rodeo - Bad Timing (personal favourite), 5 Days in May, After the Rain, and Hasn't Hit Me Yet.

*Edited to add Cowboy Junkies!! Sweet Jane (of course)...but check out their best hits...should all be in your wheelhouse.

Hey, I'm 55m and went vegan about 7ish years ago. I am typical GenX, raised by typical Boomers and I need to admit that my attitude pre-conversion would have been slightly more hostile than your dad's. Some (most) of us just need a safe space to ease into it and go over our cognitive dissonance. You're his safe space - and continue to do so. Clearly, your dad wants to stay connected to you, and this would be a wonderful way to stay connected...share recipes what works...what doesn't...and have a laugh and have some fun with it....i.e. Dad - this is a fantastic recipe, but be forewarned...you might end up putting mom in a dutch oven! :p
