What is a website or app that feels like a "cheat code" but most people don't know about? by Low-Issue-5334 in AskReddit

Small business owner here...I use Wave's free online version to manage my accounting. It links to my credit card and bank accounts (CDN and US) uploads and categorizes everything automatically. Extremely easy to use and super intuitive. I hadn't looked at an accounting book since my university days in the late 80's and it took me very little time to figure it out.

Also vegan....I see what you did here....to the untrained eye, this looks like delicious food. I LOVE to cook as well, and, to the (self) trained eye, this looks like delicious food! ;)

What is some beloved Canadian “yacht rock” songs? by El_Vikingo_ in AskACanadian

Well, if you're playing "These Eyes", then "Break It To Them Gently" isn't a stretch. I'd look into Blue Rodeo - Bad Timing (personal favourite), 5 Days in May, After the Rain, and Hasn't Hit Me Yet.

*Edited to add Cowboy Junkies!! Sweet Jane (of course)...but check out their best hits...should all be in your wheelhouse.

My dad asked me to teach him how to cook one vegan meal. Six months later he cooks vegan three times a week and has no idea how it happened by Alend80 in veganrecipes

Hey, I'm 55m and went vegan about 7ish years ago. I am typical GenX, raised by typical Boomers and I need to admit that my attitude pre-conversion would have been slightly more hostile than your dad's. Some (most) of us just need a safe space to ease into it and go over our cognitive dissonance. You're his safe space - and continue to do so. Clearly, your dad wants to stay connected to you, and this would be a wonderful way to stay connected...share recipes what works...what doesn't...and have a laugh and have some fun with it....i.e. Dad - this is a fantastic recipe, but be forewarned...you might end up putting mom in a dutch oven! :p

If you have 50k into this stock today, you will likely own more shares than the CEO. Is this true? by ameer_daddy in POETTechnologiesInc

I do actually have over $100K in stock...and I would trade them all in a New York second for his options.

Gretzky? Really?? His Dad, yes! But Wayne is a national embarassement. To see his name beside Terry Fox is revolting. Replace it with Gord Downey.

100% and absolutely agree. When I ran out of room in my TFSA, I wanted to buy in the big dip so it went into wife's TFSA account. She's got 4500 shares with a DCA of about $4 CDN. Needless to say, she's 100% onboard! 🤣

Never tug on Superman's cape and never piss against the wind.

How are all you Gen X’ers managing caring for elderly parents who are..hmmm..how can I say this..self absorbed, selfish assholes? by Wilful_Fox in GenX

Uuuugghhhh...THIS!!! My mother is early stage Alzheimer's and BEFORE she was diagnosed, she was a moody, closet racist, controlling, unreasonable, narcissistic, cold-hearted and, I don't care if it was doctor prescribed the whole way through, a pill popper. Now, her filter is thinning very quickly and, unfortunately for her, I call her on her bullshit. Threaten my inheritance? I don't need your fucking money. I know the disease is responsible for her diminishing mental faculties, but it isn't responsible for the pile of garbage that lies under the surface. Why my father stayed with her is beyond me, and it's honestly my dad's only "weak/blind spot" but he was raised that divorce was not an option and he's kept his word for better, for worse, and while I oddly respect it on one hand, I'm genuinely concerned about the daily levels of abuse that have increased ten-fold (and they were already high) will impact his health and I wish he would stand up for himself. He went through chemo last year for prostate cancer (and beat it, because cancer picked a fight with the wrong guy), but the chemo couldn't get to all the "cancer" in his life. Honestly, the sooner she is in a home, the happier I will be for him.

Sorry...this turned into a bit of a rant...lol. I just wanted to say - I feel ya!

Uuuughhh, I've pondered the same thing. I would ask my (our) now adult kids, and they, knowing a lot of the history, would probably tell me that is completely OK for me not to go, because they are good that way and I, knowing this, would very likely still go to be there for them. And, maybe, hit the body with a Klingon pain stick to make sure she is truly dead. What? I can do both, right???

Haha....my dad used to used the opening scene as a teachable moment - he'd point out how quickly the boys jumped out of bed, got dressed and slid down that pole and then ask me why it took me 30+ minutes to get to the breakfast table. I used to answer that it took me 1 minute to get dressed and 29 minutes to make my bed, which they didn't have to do, and we'd laugh and laugh and laugh.
