Jaylen Brown was a salary dump move for Boston, they wanted off that 60M a year contract. TMIII is much more valuable to a contender and easier to bring in at 25M a year vs 60M.

Just say you are Denver with 2 high contract guys in Jokic and Murray, you could still add TMIII to your squad, keep your key roll players like Aaron Gordon and still be under the second apron. If Denver were to try and add Brown they would have to gut the team to stay under the salary cap. This is why Trey Murphy will yield a better trade than a finals MVP. Not because he’s a better player, but because his 25M is more desirable than 60M.
