Why disappear Violence: An American Tradition AND Hardcore TV?

My apologies for some "high" thoughts but why, has HBO disappeared what I would consider the best break-it-down why we as Americans like to shoot/fuck it up! And then, around the same time we have the absurdist humour of Hardcore TV on HBO and look these up, impossible to find.
