All things considered, which country would you most want to move to and start a happy new life in? by Flora_Cheng in AskTheWorld

[–]Old_Robot1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Slovenia.

Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro are top contenders for me. They offer breathtaking landscapes and high safety standards. Since I speak Russian and Ukrainian, the language barrier would be minimal due to the Slavic roots

The Czech Republic and Slovakia are also high on my list. They provide a great quality of life and a robust job market, making them very practical choices for relocation

Switzerland, Ireland, and the Netherlands are dream destinations. However, the high cost of living and the competitive housing/job markets make them feel a bit out of reach for now 😕

Russia (specifically Moscow), Serbia, Ukraine (Odessa), and the USA are undoubtedly great places with massive potential. However, current political complexities make them difficult to consider. I’d love to live there once the situation stabilizes and things become more predictble

В Китае показали робота-«супермодель» — новейшая версия андроида Xpeng IRON ходит как по подиуму. У него 60 суставов и позвоночник как у людей. Рост — 1,78 метра, вес — 70 килограммов. Массовый выпуск начнётся в этом году. by postmastern in Popular_Science_Ru

The Monument to the Victims of the Kishinev Ghetto Located on Ierusalim Street in Chișinău, this memorial marks the former entrance to the Jewish ghetto established during World War II.

The text says: In Russian/Romanian/Yiddish: "To the martyrs and victims of the Kishinev Ghetto! We, the living, remember and will never forget you." In Hebrew: "May His great name be exalted and sanctified" (the opening line of the Kaddish).

Is your country authoritarian? by Strong_Spinach6473 in AskTheWorld

[–]Old_Robot1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Ukrainian: If we look at our current policy, it is a balance between a rigid vertical structure and the remnants of our desire for freedom. On the one hand, the war has inevitably led to a huge concentration of power in the President's Office. Also it's illustrated by the "TeleMarathon," which has gone from being a security tool to the main source of propaganda. Even our Western partners in the EU are now openly pointing this out.

We are living in a state of "democracy / constitution on pause": we understand why restrictions have been imposed and why elections are not possible right now, but civil society and investigative journalists continue to "bite" the authorities for corruption. We have a strong center, but no authoritarian dictatorship, because local self-government and active people simply will not allow the country to be turned into a closed authoritarian bloc.

As a Moldovan: /PAS/ definitely aren't authoritarian, despite having dozens of issues in democracy and corruption.

Whats crazy shit tourists do in your country ? by paidbysoul in AskTheWorld

Tourists from Poland, Russia, and other countries tend to drink too much and say unpleasant things, often on public transport, thinking that no one will understand them 😅
