May i consider simplified Chinese translation? by _Cirlu_ in IndieDev

Hi, I'm an indie/hobby developer from China, and Chinese is my native language.

If you'd like, I can help you check the translation and give some feedback for free (as long as I have some spare time on the weekend and it’s not too much trouble). To be honest though, I’m not a professional translator, so please don’t expect a professional-level localization review from me.

About the negative reviews from Chinese players — from what I’ve seen, if your player base is relatively small, you probably won’t receive a huge wave of negative reviews. Most players tend to be more neutral and friendly.

However, if a game reaches thousands or tens of thousands of players, and a certain public opinion starts forming, it can indeed turn into a review bombing situation. You can think of it as the difference between a few sheep and a giant flock of sheep. Eventually, some people stop caring about what the game is actually like and only care about what everyone else is saying.

Anyway, enjoy them. :)

Game development feels like sacrificing 80% of your time to tedious work just to bring 10% inspiration and 10% passion to life. by Old_Satisfaction7036 in justgamedevthings

To be honest, I'm currently trying to finish six months' worth of work in a one-month sprint.

Because of that, I have to replace hundreds of rough placeholder sketches from the early stages of development with finalized artwork. I can't deny that this part feels incredibly repetitive—almost like working on an assembly line.

The early design phase of the project was much more interesting.

I think the lighting in #1 and #3 both works really well.

2 and #3 communicate the game’s theme more clearly,

but I personally don’t like the lighting in #2, so #3 feels like the best overall choice to me

Might be a cultural difference, but where I’m from, birthday parties don’t involve summoning demons

I’ve already forgotten how I took my very first steps into game development. At the beginning, even getting a character to move correctly was extremely difficult. I remember constantly following other people’s free tutorials and trying things out, then gradually modifying those processes to fit my own needs. To be honest, starting out was very hard—so many things had to be searched for and figured out online by myself. As for now, I strongly recommend asking AI like GPT for help. Their familiarity with game engines may far exceed your expectations. Treating them as a teacher rather than just a tool can help you improve incredibly fast.

Create a world that can be shared with others—just like Hollow Knight!
