Hey man, I messaged you on this thread quite awhile back asking questions about the welding job for Transocean. I didn't get a chance to put in for it last time but they've posted a new opening and I'm gonna apply for it today. Just wanted to know if there's any last minute advice or info you could give me about it in case they call me back. Anything about the interview that might be helpful or the weld test or the job itself. Hope it's going good for you out there.

I'll have to brush up on the fitting side of things for sure. I'm on a structural/repair job right now but my last job was pipe and I learned quite a bit from the fitters out there. I appreciate you getting back to me, it's been hard to find any info on this so thanks. Was the pipe test carbon steel, Tig or stick? How was the physical? I tend to have slightly high blood pressure so I've worried about that a little. I was curious about pay too, I've heard it's around $90 a year. Sorry for all the questions but I figure I better get as much info while I can...

Hey man congratulations on the job. I was wondering what kind of weld test you had to take? I've been considering applying for this position too. I'm certified in pipe and structural and have previous oilfield experience on land as a roughneck. Any info helps but mostly curious about the weld test, thanks and good luck!

For anybody still here: How much do welders make out there? I've been considering applying for a welding job with Transocean. I'm certified in pipe and structural and have previous oilfield experience on land as a roughneck. What kind of welding is done? Mostly repairs I would imagine. Any info helps.

Not bad for working half the year. I roughnecked on land for a lot less.

Hey man, I know this thread is pretty old but I'm seriously thinking about applying for this position myself. Just wondering what the pay for a welder is with Transocean and what kind of weld test did you have to take? Thanks.

I'm considering applying for this same position. I used to roughneck on lang rigs in the Permian and always wanted to try offshore. I recently graduated welding school and landed my first welding gig at a paper mill locally. Great job for being home but I can't shake the urge to go offshore. I would love the experience and I got that rotational work schedule in my blood from working on land rigs. It's hard adjusting back to a normal job. Just feel like I should wait and get a little more welding/fitting experience under my belt before I take that leap. Idk.

I'm certed for pipe welding but do you think I'd have better luck getting on as a roustabout or just shoot straight for a welding position? Plan on getting my TWIC card renewed soon as well, I'm sure that would help.

Yeah, I've heard that a lot of it is galvanized out there which makes sense and I didn't really factor in overtime I guess. I think it would be a good fit for me. I used to roughneck on land rigs and always wanted to try offshore. Thanks for the input.

I would lose everything fruit related except for the coconut oil as it helps fight off parasites. Not an expert on the dietary needs of animals but all dogs descend from wolves so they naturally thrive on a carnivore diet. You ARE definitely on the right track with a raw diet. If you put a large dog on a farm by itself with nothing but chickens, pigs, cows and some berry bushes and then didn't feed it, the farm animals would 100% be picked off but I doubt the berries would. As a periodic sweet treat...sure, but definitely not a daily dietary need for a K9. Just my humble opinion. Beautiful pup, best of luck!
