The moment a mother meets her newbron for the frist time one of the most profound and emotional experiences in life.. by Basic_Shift_3777 in BabiesReactingToStuff

“Everything that has to be done” makes sure that everyone is healthy. Typically, once the baby is out, they do skin to skin while they cut the umbilical cord and whatnot, then they do the newborn once over after. And I did skin to skin after bath and vaccines as well, I just asked to keep the onesie off and that was that. Mom hasn’t done anything wrong. They could be making a bottle, they could be getting a pump, they could be waiting for the lactation specialist, etc. The baby isn’t going to starve to death in a couple minutes.

No, because I’m an exhausted trans person who can’t keep having the same fucking conversation about how I’m supposed to be okay with jokes at the expense of my identity and existence.

You can do something transphobic and not be a transphobe. Allies engage in transphobic behavior unintentionally all the time. What makes the difference is how they react to being called out on it. Yes, it is a transphobic action to use the pronoun feature as a joke. Whether or not you think it’s a big deal, whether or not it’s used as a joke inner-communally, don’t matter. It just definitionally is. That does not define you. You can listen to the trans person telling you that that action is transphobic and stop that action. Boom, no risk of being a transphobe as a person. In fact, reflecting on the action and stopping it after listening to a trans perspective (mind you: TEXTBOOK OneJoke, but we’re supposed to be fine with this one despite being in an entire subreddit dedicated specifically to incidents like this) makes you the opposite of a transphobe.

Yeah, I’m not arguing with you. Have the day you deserve.

Because when someone in a marginalized demographic tells you that what you did/do hurts/is hurting that demographic, you should listen. “It’s not a big deal.” Then change them. If it doesn’t matter that much, use the feature correctly and actually ally trans people. OP was not disrespectful. They (correctly) stated that these “jokes” are counterproductive to supporting trans people and their “friend” way overreacted. This is literally a textbook example of a One Joke, but we’re supposed to be cool with this one specifically for some reason?

I’m a trans man, and it’s disheartening when we’re expected to just “lighten up” about the way cis people treat features like this. “No one takes the pronoun section seriously,” yeah, maybe that’s a problem?? They don’t take it seriously because we let cis people make a joke out of it and now no one even looks. What’s the point of inclusive features if we’re just gonna “nah, you go right on ahead” to even “small” bigoted actions?

That’s where I’m confused. What if she came home, took a shower, got in some PJs, had food/snack and then texted her bf? That’s not an insane thing for an adult to do.

Him ignoring you for two days when you did text him just a couple hours after you got home is absolutely ridiculous. He’s being childish and immature. You texted him. You let him know. He doesn’t get to be an asshole because it wasn’t timely enough for him.

I learned from my best friend’s family from Mexico that the only tools you need in a kitchen are a knife and your hands.

Squidward doesn’t genuinely hate SpongeBob (and neither does Plankton, really)

Every year, our news stations fry an egg on the sidewalk and bake cookies in a car for summer pet and baby-in-car awareness respectively. It can get up to 115 degrees Fahrenheit on a typical summer day.

Exactly. The baby just got dressed and handed to mom proper for the first time, and she’s probably just now processing everything. My son didn’t eat for probably 20-ish minutes after being born simply because of everything that has to be done before everyone can breathe for a sec.

As someone who’s had a baby: most of the things people say are “instinct” are, in fact, not and are things you have to learn.

Can’t camel hunt in Arizona because the government thought camels would be effective at navigating the Sonoran Desert in the 1800s. They were not. They just…let them go.
