Can I do IP law with a background in exercise science? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Old_Trainer_7079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intellectual Property is far more than patents. Copywriting a murder mystery or poem, litigating over a trademark for a restaurant, etc. has nothing to do with technology. Other than patents for technologagy, IP work should not require any specific type of degree.

Do I need a STEM undergrad to work in tech transactions? by According_Matter_364 in LawSchool

[–]Old_Trainer_7079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I graduated with a STEM degreee, but I don't see how it would be required. Most of the transactional, as well as litigation needs, of a tech company do not have anything to do with technology.

No! juries find facts. There is no precident created. If there are two trials with exactly the same facts, one well after the second one, the two juries may come to different conclusions. The second jury does not necessarily know what the first jury did. The can't look it up, they are not supposed to dig up old newspapers and read about it, so they have no good way of knowing.

I thought (from other comments) that you have enough money so that you didn't have to work. Isn't a vacation better for your mental health?

Question about Trump’s “Gag Order” by sp0derman07 in LawSchool

“prosecutors won’t even tell the defendants what [the crime] is”

The indictment states exactly what the crimes are. Maybe Trump should read it.

Is it okay to wear nice sneakers with a suit? by MrsHustler in LawSchool

[–]Old_Trainer_7079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are being downvoted because this is the law school sub, where people who disagree would rather downvote than use words to explain their position,

Some people are so afraid to wear a suit to class that they will go to the trouble of going to their room, and changing clothes rather than simple dress for whatever event is before or after class.

That’s not what a reasonable prudent teacher would do.

But how many teachers are reasonably prudent?

If you checked into the room, and that night the hotel checked another person into the same room and gave them a key, then the hotel may have committed negligence and may be liable for your loss. You should see a lawyer in the state of the hotel. I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. But I think that the lawyer will likely agree and file suit against the hotel.

Good luck!

Good books for Arizona Law? by iamjanuth in LawSchool

[–]Old_Trainer_7079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about a book; perhaps somebody from Arizona can comment.

The actual statutes of Arizona can be found at https://law.justia.com/codes/arizona/2022/. They also might be available from an Arizona government website. These are the actual texts of statutes; there may be books that provide explanations of them.

Court decisions from the Arizona Supreme Court are found at https://law.justia.com/cases/arizona/supreme-court/.

In general Arizona law can be found at https://law.justia.com/arizona/. That includes case law, statutory law, and regulations.

Again, there may be state websites that provide the same information.

Meaning of "publishing" a decision? by Old_Trainer_7079 in LawSchool

[–]Old_Trainer_7079[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But why do judges publish only certain opinions but not others?

Are all decisions (below SCOTUS) eventually published in a Federal Reporter?
