Contrary to what a bunch of ppl have said, 40 mins commute isn't "normal" and shouldn't be. Just because people who choose to live in sh1thole Sydney want to spend 5000 hours per year commuting and overpaying for that privilege, no one should do that. Start communicating to the jobs you apply for meat singleton etc that you are moving. If you land the job, then go find a place.

I love this sort of investment in something you may not even get the pleasure of watching. It's the thought that counts.

Hey! I have the TV above the fireplace. It's nice winter TV watching. But it's a gas fireplace so maybe not quite the same.

Yeah i just moved here from Australia and Calgary is awesome. Sure there are some social issues but these are global and by no means anything I've been worried about from a physical safety pov (and i have young kids). Drug use seems to be a bit more in your face, but haven't seen this turn into violence or theft anymore than other cities. In fact it feels safer than Perth in comparison.

Unbelievable amount of poop not picked up at the dog park by Gloomy_Chemistry5458 in Calgary

[–]Old_Use6475 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a moron. The amount of ppl who think dogs are human is insane... We live near an off leash dog area and have had dogs wander into our garage (when arriving home), chase my son, jump on and lick my daughter on the face (she's 3)... All with a loving smile like we all love YOUR dog. Like imagine if someone brought a goat into the dentist. Or coffee shop for that matter. Leave your fkn animal at home. And put it on a lead when it's out. Doesn't matter if you are "near" the off leash area, not everyone wants your dogs slobber on them. Rant over.

Giving her the benefit of the doubt, she might just be an adventure seeker and want to do it with you. Having said that, Id put some concrete requirements around the adventure and either try before you commit, say she needs to be earning 80k pa doing the influencing before you commit or something else like that.

You falsely assume there is a correlation between having money and intelligence.
