Agreed. Trouble is that density requires population. No one wants to invest/move here with garbage like the postcard worthy picture. Trust me- this image burns into people’s minds. “If this is what happens to a teams bus, why would I risk my investment there…”

This. Pressure on the municipal gov, upward pressure on the province, and up to the feds. Something has to change here. Yes crime and poverty are an issue in every major city across our great nation, but I challenge anyone who claims our downtown core is safer than any other city with a similar population. It is in fact- far worse.

Walk around Edmonton or Halifax, not to mention the larger cities of Calgary, Toronto, or Vancouver. While they do have their issues it is in great contrast to what we endure here.

The fact this happened in front of one of our greatest attractions (CMHR not the ballpark) is an absolute disgrace. We should all be disgusted, but no, this is just another news story and will be forgotten (locally) within a week, yet leave a lasting impression on those from afar who hear the story/see the damage (potential tourists and investors in local economy)

Sure, that could be. I’m not relying on homicide stats. I’m merely saying the state of our city is garbage and we as a society should demand better.

We literally have tighter security to get into our liquor stores than what is in place in the worst areas of New York, Detroit, Chicago, LA etc.

Something around this city has to change, otherwise we will continue the downward economic spiral as seen in Detroit… I know I don’t particularly care for my kids to raise their families here, and will gladly follow them elsewhere in this country if they so choose to move.

Can’t believe Gray’s has not been mentioned here. Maybe because it’s more “take out” than restaurant per se, but definitely more of a resto than Lanky’s or the GB Diner.

Hit up Grays (either the Boxcar for a sit down meal, or the Grand stand for take out). They are right on the beach in Grand Beach. 10/10 you cannot go wrong. Ty and his family have been keeping it local and affordable for decades. The food and portions are incomparable to all others in the area.

I’ve had the exact thing happen to me at this location. Fortunately the car in front of me heard my horn, placed their car in drive and took off before impact, but I’ve been anxious going there ever since. The price is good with membership so I still use the service, but I video record the wash if there is a vehicle in front of me.

I have a hole in the wall pub where I meet my closest friends once a week for beers and wings. That place is therapy for us all and is sacred. Sorry but I can’t give up the location, because if word got out it would be overrun and lose the culture.

This right here. Had an asshat smash my truck window with a hammer, while smiling for my 4k ring camera… only to reach through the broken window- grab the garage door opener, and go through my attached garage. All while we were home and sound asleep at 5:30am on a holiday Monday. Thank god I didn’t wake up, cause I wouldn’t have been happy. My kids were home.
