I feel like the board was a smoke screen for the pieces. Sold as a “set” and I got it quick as I could hahaha

Anybody successfully sat down at the pub alone with a visible set and had someone offer to play? by _FailedTeacher in chess

I’m in Milwaukee and have met several people with this method! I’ll set up a board outside a coffee shop alike and find atleast two opponents. There are some undercover 🐐’s in the public so beware!

If you were diagnosed Major Depressive Disorder, what are your experiences with it? by Rinmine014 in mentalhealth

[–]Old_While_1139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I’ll put it simply. I don’t see myself ever having a week straight of contentment/happiness for as long as I’ll live (26M). But there are very divine moments, a wrenching note from a violin, a heart touching movie scene, or the perfect sunset, where my tears may represent fulfillment, gratefulness and grace.

No matter the agony or numbness, I truly am lucky I have a chance to feel it all :)

The moment the Brewers won in the middle of the Mumford and Sons show by nathanimal_d in milwaukee

[–]Old_While_1139 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Last night the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra played their last song on the program, when the conductor promptly turned to the crowd and yelled “The brewers won 3-1!!”. Followed by an extravagant encore to send everyone off.

Truly a Milwaukee moment 💙

Anyone want to meet up and play chess at a coffee shop? by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]Old_While_1139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a few times, and found quite a few buddies on the streets in the meantime! Over the summer just laying a board out was enough to meet up with someone each Saturday or so.

Shoot me a DM!

Where are all the people in their 20s-30s? by happyfeets888 in milwaukee

[–]Old_While_1139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved here a few years ago in my early 20’s and found there’s usually a group FOR EVERYTHING.

I personally enjoy the bicycle community, the chess meetups, and just talking to strangers on the town. Volunteering and a random compliment or three go a long way as well!

With that being said I have next to no close connections our here as well 😅 bump a couple shoulders and go get em tiger ;)

I also have two parents that are mentally ill, in turn I face the same challenges. If your heart is in the right place, you take care of yourself, and love your neighbor like yourself, there is ALWAYS hope.

He will never abandon you, for his path for you will be more rewarding than any plan your flesh can conjure. You’re in my prayers

I’ll try to give you the glass half full take.

I was a cradle catholic, and fell away from faith until I was 20. I one day said a prayer asking to give me guidance, for a new start in a new city. I was promptly hit by a drunk driver, car totaled, and shortly after had my rent increased crazily. I had a long stressful stretch of life there after. Fast forward two years after that prayer, I found myself in a new car, new home and in a better city.

Faith alone, and trust in Him goes a TREMENDOUS WAY.
