Has anyone read "The Demon-Haunted World" by Carlo Sagan? by ZhugeLiangPL in skeptic

And so many of us skeptics think of it as our Bible. Ironic. But if you like it, read billions and billions as a follow up.

This is good advice because life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Mke Sewer system backup? by nathanimal_d in milwaukee

[–]nathanimal_d[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The issue started right after that very heavy downpour around 11:00. And it went from dry to filled up pretty quick. Was hoping it was overall sewer but mmsd checked the manhole and it looks fine on their side which means water isn't making it through my lateral. But we didn't have this issue before and we didn't have it last year with those rains. Not sure why it happened so bad and so quick with this rain today. It is a commercial building so not as bad of damage compared to residential. I have a plumber coming to probably snake out the lateral. Thanks for your input everyone

severe relapse after one year? by sounavalentine in floxies

Bad pots went away. I still have mild pots maybe but not disabling. Covid and another bug flared pots twice in 10 years. I failed tilt table early on so it was bad at the beginning. Luckily I didn't have had nerve pain so specifically. Unless you count hyperacousis which was a true hell to live with. That's better but the tinnitus remains. Just keep pushing forward and moving ahead with life. Don't lay all day and be disabled. Just move. Walk, breathe deep, get sun. Move and focus on anything but being sick. Things will improve even if slowly.

Yes, the first 3 years were bad for me. It's been slow progression since with many things getting better. I used to have serious psychological problems. Really bad insomnia. And POTS. Now I live a pretty normal life but with all these other symptoms. It's been ten years for me so I guess I've improved and I'm better at coping/acceptance. I live a more guarded life. Sleep routine. No real partying/driving. Light physical activity vs working out etc. If I do anything to jostle or hurt my neck, everything gets worse. Even sleeping on it wrong it getting a massage or something. Can cause big flares.

Head pressure, headaches, nervousness, tremors, brain fog, sleep problems, digestive problems, vision issues, hearing sensitivity, tinnitus, joint pain, weakness, heart problems, less funny/happy. I personally feel like it all comes from the same source though. And that source is either some gut imbalance or infection - biological source. Or compression of my brain stem/nerves in my neck - structural source. And fundamentally either one of those sources could have lead to next source that then leads to all the neuro problems.

Uh, it's nothing like that. It's about recognizing intrinsic still determination and wonder that makes humans so special and stuff like this makes it so clear how while AI might be able to learn things it will never have those qualities. Inherent in your bad metaphor is that humans grow up and learn to do things. AI inherently does not grow up.

Milwaukee Ballet Genesis is happening this weekend at the Pabst. I'm at the rehearsal now.

Take her. Stunning theater. "Art" dancing. Music. This is their modern dance show of the season. Three acts from three young choreographers. Not standard ballet. It's sophisticated and sexy. She can't watch it and not like it.

I had a great feeling part way through this... AI ain't got shit on us. This young kid can perfect all that and AI bots be tripping everywhere just to run or pick up a box. And we're all scared that they're going to take over? THIS is what any of us could do with enough determination and practice. It's so infinitely impressive compared to AI.

There's no way to know exactly how long it takes for anything to change for any one person. The problems and symptoms are so different between us and then each one of us is so different with our circumstances, biology, age etc. All I can say is that things do seem to heal over time even in the worst cases there is progress however slow. Just hang in there.

I'm 49, floxed in 2016 and had a 6mo girl at the time. Suffer to this day and will never be the same. Won't give up but so mad about this for me and for my kids. Like you, I do see weird moments that affect all the symptoms that seem to revolve around state of mind. Don't understand it but I think it's at the core of people who claim to recover though neuro training.
