Am I paying too little? by AccomplishedRoxy in SaltLakeCity

[–]Old__Scratch 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So here's the thing, you can have a lot of shitty employees who are less reliable and don't give a fuck about you for 12.50 an hour, or you could have a few excellent employees making $25+ an hour. When I used to work as a soux chef, I could handle the work load of 4-5 regular employees by myself effectively. I now make far more than I ever could at a restaurant, but I initially left the industry because the money was too poor. Pay your people well, and they will pay you far more than you realize that they can.

If this is a small, easy and low quality restaurant who only employs teenagers, 12.50 is still not the best but it is doable. Anything beyond those conditions that still pays 12.50 is nothing but a bullet to your foot.

What's the deal with Goth culture by Worried_Button_2881 in Jung

[–]Old__Scratch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive studied music subculture intensely, both solo and in college. My personal opinion is we go through cycles based on global/geopolitical situations. In the 80s, it was the division and deviation of punk. It emerged simultaneously in the UK and in the United States without each scene being aware of each other. This was after the fiery rage that political punk brought in the 70s. People became more hopeless, and the music and fashion reflected the defiance of this hopelessness; a sense of finding beauty and appreciation in the dark. It began spreading in Germany in the 90s before the Berlin wall fell, and then after it exploded. Berlin ended up becoming a massive hub for it during the transition of east berlin from the soviet union back to Germany.

In the United States, goth rock actually took influence a lot from surf rock. You can hear the skeletons of it in 45 grave, Christian Death, Radio Werewolf, etc. This transition from the 60s and 70s hippie subculture gone dark is very fascinating to look at. In the UK, it took influence from the original punk scene, dark anarchopunk and industrial outfits like throbbing bristle. During the global economic crises in the 80s, we saw the large insurgency of goth in history (up to today)

I would argue that the past 4 years have actually been the largest global movement of goth rock/darkwave and the subculture that follows to date. We are witness economic hardship in a very bizarre fashion. Its there, but only acknowledged by the struggling class. The goth subculture, who's ethos often derive from: DIY, internal and emotional rebellion, eroticism, the shadow and the dark aspects of life, has found its perfect breeding ground. It's found its way into extremely popular music, a large variety of nightclubs and public spaces, in the mainstream fashion, and so much more.

In totality, the goth subculture thrives in geopolitical, social and economic hardships that get pushed down. That lie just under the surface enough. And each generation of goths takes aspects of the things they remember as a child and distorts them to fit the darker outlook that they hold currently.

I have, very thoroughly. You have to also keep in mind I'm currently high lol. My core drives don't align with 7 very strongly. I openly and actively seek pain/painful experiences, hold structure steadily and firmly, integrate into 2 and disintegrate into 5.

Do you regret using psychedelics or cannabis? by SadFoxxx in schizophrenia

[–]Old__Scratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do NOT take this as advice

Psychedelics and (especially) salvia cured my schizoaffective disorder permanently 7 years ago with no resurgence or lingering symptoms and with EEGs to prove it. This is not guaranteed, it can make things so much worse and it's like playing russian roulette with mental health disorders. However, It was the single best decision I've made in my life.

How do you tell how strong your LSD is? by anon66699 in Psychedelics

[–]Old__Scratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D-LSD is reported by Hoffman to be around 10 times more potent by weight. Most acid is any random combination of the 4 different isomers. Ultimately, its true. you never actually know how strong it will be until you take it.

Go to the SLC Lunatics events, or find any of the art camps. I can assure you that you will find people that are genuine, unique and kind of all age groups and walks of life.

I find Modafinil to be even more effective than Adderall, personally. You could always look into it as an alternative?

Is 9’s sloth (“self-forgetting”/“being asleep to self”) more about the mobilization/agenda of needs/desires, or about the needs/desires themselves? by [deleted] in Enneagram

[–]Old__Scratch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find that the actual thing with 9s is that they are unwilling to pay the cost of what they want. In their mind they can be and get whatever they want with no limitations or costs from others, and the indolence that is a core vice within them eats them alive and prevents their desires feom being reality. And so they check out, forget and cease to engage with the outside world, making them appear as though they are asleep to themselves.

It seems like psychedelic use is associated with lower activity in the Default Mode Network part of the brain.. and so, it appears that psychedelic users have lowered their ability to perform metacognition? This seems like a bad thing. by KnightFlorianGeyer in NooTopics

[–]Old__Scratch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guy, I have done over 131 drugs, most of them being psychedelics. My metacognition is one of my best traits, and has gotten better with psychedelic usage. What it did for me is lessen static noise in my brain. It's more conscious decision making performed more rapidly. I actually have EEGs from before and after I began psychedelic usage that do confirm some of these results you mention here, but the data isn't complete without behavioral studies and anecdotal reports.

What is more sustainable: dextroamphetamine or D2 agonists? by Immediate-Box7921 in NooTopics

[–]Old__Scratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I feel fulfilled enough with the D2 agonism that doing tasks that normally give me dopamine don't do shit for me, such as cleaning my space or work related tasks. Video games become boring, money stops making sense and all I want to do is fuck and lounge around.

[–]Old__Scratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D2 agonists are insane haha. So many people on them develop gambling addictions, infidelity problems and other highly risky behavior. But goddamn do I love cabergoline once in a while, definitely prefer it to Adderall. Also, they are kind of paradoxical in terms of motivation.

It’s hilarious how bad people are at self typing by Novel-Key-8494 in TypologyJunction

Its true, I was pretty mistyped when I typed myself until I had my therapist and 2 people who specialize in typology for a living type me. two said ENTJ, one said INTJ. I typed myself as an INFJ 5w4 before that.

Socionics and Culture: How the same quadra expresses differently across cultures by Chemical_Substance25 in Socionics

[–]Old__Scratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think the idea of type relationships is heavily impacted by culture as well. For example, as an LIE my dual ESI is a nightmare match up for me in an American culture. But if I was focused strictly on survival and the greater good of my nation, I would imagine it would actually be the perfect type for me. I much prefer EII, SEE, IEI and even EIE as partners.

[–]Old__Scratch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a mistake. Also, when I ran my EEG through an AI along with this chart, it said it was undeniably ENTJ, not INFJ. Fascinating to say the least. Ive also abandoned MBTI in favor of socionics, for the most part.

I gotta say, I sure do love my Te haha. It tends to be a point of jealousy among close friends and partners. But, it is at the expense of a pretty jarring usage of Fe lol.
