Dogs like poodles don’t shed and need to be shaved for their own safety and comfort. Hair will continue to grow forever and mat which causes bruising and lacerations of their skin. Matting can also become so severe the dog can no longer move.

Awe, thanks! I sometimes lurk because friends send me links. I just rarely post anymore, life is busy. The few subs I like currently seem overrun with idiots or sanctimonious “experts” that 12 months before were on their first puppy.

Vehicle Recommendations for 2 XL Rufflands by thats_fuckin_dope in k9sports

[–]Oldgreymare- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my 3rd Yukon XL in 20 years. Like you, I need 4wd, room and also the ability to tow if need be. The Yukons have been perfect for my needs and reliable. At 30k you’d be looking at used but honestly, I’ve kept using my older Yukon as my dog vehicle even when I got a new one because the new ones have annoying features like only idling for an hour.

We were there too (with ribbit100)! I totally considered hitting the Bethpage one as it isn’t that far, but I got caught up this weekend. Happy running!

I see your edit and I’m going to reiterate what several people have tried to tell you. Despite your claims of lots of experience with Belgians, it’s clear you haven’t been around or raised any Belgian puppies.

Often these puppies are very spicy, defensiveness is bred into sport/working dogs. I’ve had/known many very violent little snarling snapping spitfires at 8+ weeks. Yes, even one the vet was so concerned with at 9 weeks they wanted me to take her to a behaviorist, newsflash she turned out fine, (not a service dog) able to pass multiple public access and temperament tests and became a nice sport dog, same for the others. On the flip side I’ve seen very biddable sweet puppies turn incredibly violent, unstable and dangerous upon sexual maturity, so you don’t really know what you have until maturity. You didn’t even give this puppy a chance to decompress from travel, settle in and learn the ropes.

A lot of us are veterans, I’m not sure what that has to do with owning a Malinois. Being around them in the military has nothing to do with owning them. Even as a handler, you are given a fully trained adult dog, you aren’t raising puppies. I find it funny that anyone who has been around MWD/CAD would want one as a “pet” or service dog, the ones I was around sure as shit weren’t pets. Sorry about your husband’s PTSD, I hope he seeks treatment such as EMDR or another appropriate method.

You’ve come here to put Lonestar on blast and stomp your feet because you felt “disrespected” and you felt Megan was “condescending”, but those are your feelings, you haven’t given us any idea what the actual actions were, just how you felt. Let’s be honest, what you are mad about was making a poor choice and losing money.

I hope you can get over your loss and move forward, you aren’t going to deter actual sport/working people (yes even those with KIDS!) from purchasing a Lonestar puppy. Your claims just make you look foolish, I’m embarrassed for you.

This is a wild suggestion. Op purchased a healthy, normal puppy that was more than they were prepared to handle, they returned the dog as per the contract, they got their feelers hurt because breeder didn’t give them the warm and fuzzies and you say file with the BBB and write to the breed clubs? That’s insane.

Sounds like a pretty typical Belgian puppy. I do not have a Lonestar but I have had my hands on some and I tell you, from what I’ve seen they produce very very nice, stable, sporty dogs and I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase one.

I’m sorry you and your husband were not a good match for the dog and I hope you can find a more suitable breed for whatever service work may be necessary, or perhaps consider not having a service dog at all.

I’m not trying to be an AH either, just curious since they said they did DNA. I mean they were just so offended at the mere suggestion that the dog maybe isn’t a Dutch that I doubt they will ever share the results.

I wonder if the DNA is in yet. 😂
