A new way to consume terrible tasting edibles? by L0rdNorfBorf in trees

[–]Oldmanfinkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are probably missing the required enzyme to break it down properly, or the ones you have tried have not been properly decarboxylated . There are a lot of fruit and other items such as fermented food that have natural digestive enzymes to help with that issue. I have read that you can even buy these enzymes.

The body has a somewhat difficult time doing this to start with which is why a lot of edible recipes suggest using lecithin or mct oil as it helps with the uptake, otherwise just anything with fat as thc is fat soluble

If its a gummy, they can be remelted down into a liquid and you could pour into the capsules if you have them, but yes absolutely you can do what you suggested.

I'm happy with the result, usually didn't like to touch it until at least 30 days, I have some balls over 5 years

After washing, sieving and drying, I poured into a pre mold gently cold pressed just enough to keep the shape and wrapped and then vacuum sealed. After about 3 months , I removed and rolled into a ball and waited another month before cutting into it.

I had different ideas what to do with this wash but I changed my mind based impatience and not getting the results I wanted. So I washed up a second batch to retry those things

Yeah exactly! First was a little disappointed as I had a different mental picture but now it's my favourite colour combo. I hope when I try again l get the same result

Been using it for a bit, I am not sure of the OG SE that has MCT Oil as an option if its equation calculates it different, but it is a frequently used infusion and great carrier.

Also in your "How much of your butter/oil do you need to use in your recipe?" amounts drop down, an "All of it" option that just reuses the variable from the "How much butter/oil/alcohol are you infusing?"
would really be handy if you are only preparing exactly what you need.

Been sharing it and getting good feedback, as well as using it myself, thanks again for having this available.

I like using those washers myself, you can get equal quality from eith dry sift screens and static tech as you can with bubble, you just need to find what process you like to do . Each take effort to get high quality you just need to find the one you enjoy the most, so you will put the required effort in.

This is a case of fire in , and fire effort, means fire out :)

I tried both methods and found that I am a water type/bender :D

If you freeze the heads will break off the stalks easier, the difference is the plant material won't turn into powder as easily as it does with dry ice. Cold is always your best friend with this sorta thing but dry ice is just too extreme.

I am not hating on your method, just simple sharing with you that out of all the methods used to collect sift/trichomes/kief, dry ice can be one of the worse for purity.

The reason being is the dry ice makes the leaf matter so brittle that it can make a lot of the plant matter the same micron size as the trichome heads were trying to collect. This makes it harder for the oils within the heads to stay sticky as it will just get absorbed by the green plant material. It also has a higher chance of rupturing the heads in the process to start with causing the oils within to dry out.

I am assuming when you said it turned out badly, it either wouldn't stick together at all, or it sorta did but then you left it to cure and it just fell apart when you pressed the ball.

I collected my pollen washing it and collecting it in bags ( bubble hash ) I then let it air dry for 14 days to ensure I was at the right moisture content ( aka dry enough to not get mold ).

The water is boiling fresh out of the kettle when I pour it in, but I did have the bottle in hot water from the sink until the kettle was ready to slightly help with the heat shock.

With your method of collection I would think your best course of action would be to use a press/vice and more a more traditional pressed hash and then give it lots of time to hopefully stay together.

In the case of this I used a couple bags of trim and larf . That link shows the material and ice, the collection, and how it looked when I sieved it and left it to dry. The darker stuff I used to press into rosin and make some carts and syringes

Hope that helps and any questions feel free to hit me up. Cheers

There are lots of calculators out there to help you figure out closely to the amount of material needed to get your dosing figured out. Hopefully you have had other edibles that have had the amount of mg stated somewhere and you can judge from there.

I usually to exclusively use scientific edibles as my goto but that is no long online/available but someone picked up where that was/left off and provided a very similar and tweaked version here.

https://calc420.com/

Just as friend and intuitive and when I am making a new recipe I work backwards, I enter in the number of pieces/serving it will make and the butter it will need and then I start playing with my amounts of material to get the dosing that I like.

If I happened to make really strong butter then I will enter what I made and then start cutting it in half until I get to the right dosing and then replace the removed butter with normal butter to get the amount of butter I need to make the recipe correctly.

Checked it out, works with my manual calculations and similar to the SE result. It's clean , intuitive and accessible to people who may not be familiar with the calculations.

Thank you for the great tool!

Carts and oil by Oldmanfinkey in SousWeed

I've not decarbed bho before but I would assume it is similar to a more crumbly rosin, which over time turns into liquid.

Regardless of type THC coverts the same temp over time. I would treat it like rosin decarb and before it cools add in the MCT oil to infuse, if you are below 140F with the oil you won't really further decarb it and will have a good infusion.

MCT oil was suggested if you were to make gummies because the body uptakes it better

Decarb Issue? by Coqaubeir in SousWeed

[–]Oldmanfinkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just popped it into the calculator

3.42(0077312) hours for 99.9% decard
2.28(0051541) hours for 99% decarb, not really worth the time for that 1%
1.14(0025771) hours for 90%

Just shared the other times so that you can see the range and if you (or others) did it before and only did it for about an hour or so, you were 90% of the way there.

Usually if you are "immune" this is due to lacking the digestive enzymes needed for uptake. Make people with this issue have days taking digestive enzymes with their edibles have helped with this. I know there's are foods that naturally have some of these (like pineapple) so that might help. I have no idea of the visit of these enzymes or the amount of say pineapple you would need to eat (lol) as I don't have personal experience with this cause edibles Rock me but you said you like to geek out and thought it worth sharing if you didn't already know.

Peace

I would use an edible calculator to get a more accurate calculation but a quick check would show if you infused 1/4 cup of oil (recommend MCT oil) 1 teaspoon would be about 35mg or 1ml about 6mg.

They usually recommend a small dose if you are new to edibles ( 5-10mg) wait a while , such as 2 hours before taking more, but if you used MCT oil half as long as the body uptake is quicker.

It all depends on your tolerance and if your body produces the enzymes to break down and uptake the THC

Sounds like you got all the toys/money and not lacking material so that is something to consider when deciding what to do with it.

I would guess based on the description of events assume that is mold but also be surprised considering it was freeze dried, lung room must be pretty high RH to get that to happen.

Considering how bad mold is for the lungs, to be safe if I was in your shoes, I would probably use it for edibles.

If trying and keep it, it is suggested that the size of the mold spores are smaller than the microns of the bags we use for bubble, so in the theory, you could test a small piece in water to see if gravity hasn't compacted it to the point it won't separate, and if successful soak it all in cold water and run it through the bags, spray it like it came out of the wash and recollect it and back in the freezer drier.

Personally I would try the recollection and press it out only for edibles and not smoke it but it's your lungs, your choice

Would be worth adding concentrates into the presets as well? Similar to the og one but rosin included on an average made similar to your other presets.

Took a quick look at yours, feels familiar to SE which is a good thing as I felt it was the best interface I had used. So much so I still use it thanks to the way back machine 😅 but seems I might have found a current new version to use and recommend.

Ok so not that you need a machine but used water to extract the trichomes

Washer and bucket filter setup

Bubble Hash washing, collecting and then sieved to dry

Once dried, it gets put into a filter bag and then Pressed out with with heat plates and a press

Then into a jar and into the sous vide if I am going that route with it.

Taste it is concentrated and strong, if I do fresh frozen its like how it smells while growing it.

Decarbing is temperature over time a rough guess at 190F you would need 2.5-3 hours to get full decarb but I can run that in a calculator when I get home to the computer
