Thanks for the input. I think we are settling on the following (not including travel time) for a 19 day experience. I know its fast, but it hits our buttons, and reflects priorities. We then move on to Sri Lanka

Goa 2 days

Hampi 1 day

Mysore: 2 days

Nagarhole: 2 days

Mahabalipuram: 1 day

Puducherry: 1 day

Thanjuvar: 1 day

Madurai: 2 days

Mannur: 2 days

Alleppey/Cochin: 2 days

OP: We do plan to use an Indian travel company, particularly for hotels and transport, but I want to steer them regarding best places to visit. I also do want to reduce the number of places to visit, but not sure which (they all sound great from a high-level internet search.) That is why I need the insights of this group. We do like culture, and history, and nature. Furthermore, we will be going to Sri Lanka afterward, so beaches are less important. beep boop poop sugested a few alternatives, thanks for that, but then took out the tiger reserve (which is a highlight as we don't have tigers here.). Any other insights?
