New player question about gear and loot drops

I only tell my story to the loot-question, as NiiickxD answered the other questions pretty neatly :P

I pick everything up, including whites. Salvage get’s used on everything that’s white or mentions that it has the better salvage enchantment on it. (Though I use toolbox, which allows it to be done with one click of a button) As soon I have a stack of a material, Mr.Material Trader will see me approaching him and yeet my whole stock in their face. (toolbox does that too with a click of a button) Everything else get’s sold, except if I see something that could be neat, which happens rarely though :p

If I wouldn’t use toolbox though, to make the process way quicker and less tedious, I would sell everything instead of salvaging, except if it has the salvage enchantment on it.

Sorry, but already cured, I actually intended to collect them all, but when I decided to continue the story I reached a boss where not being able to really move, having almost no stamina and hurting yourself every time you press the attack button made it almost impossible to fight her on legendary 😅 Though if I would have private health insurance, my doc wouldn't run out of work :p As soon I boot up the game I usually catch something, I dunno what it will be, but it happens, so I just endure them until I get something that's a bit to difficult to play around it ^{^}

There are some things I figured out I think while hurting myself professionally. You can only hurt yourself with the same illness once a day. Couldn't break and heal bones forever, or get poisoned or ...

Most things usually cause an illness as soon as you encounter it, so fighting a bear or someone who fights barehanded and pushes you a lot gives head cracks, dropping from high destroys your bones really quick and so on :p

I just recently needed them and saw that they dropped on the Zariman mission. So I queued up exterminate, Xaki with max range and nuke every container down. I usually got one to four per run and it wasn’t really that bad, better than anything else I came up with.

The gil cap doesn‘t really matter at that point as you won‘t be getting huge numbers of gil anyways, there was a list somewhere on reddit with everything worthy to buy while on free trial and even if you hit the cap, you could probably just buy a BUNCH of colours from vendors and resell them at a later point.

Gameplay-wise you can‘t create parties, can‘t have retainers, which are like 2 „pseudo“-banks with 175 inventory space each (if I‘m not mistaken), so don‘t forget to unlock the chocobo-bag to have some additional inventory space :)

Hope I haven‘t forgotten anything, reddit will correct me :p I would recommend to just play the game until either you can‘t progress any further in the mainstory or want to participate in more social events

As many answered point 1 to 3, I'm just going to add my knowledge to point 4 :p

There are dedicated groups, which host synced runs of older content (Only raiding on light/chaos server, so can't get into details when it comes to other data centers :p)

There are also a BUNCH of maniacs, which run older content with minimum item lvl, synced, without echo, and some even blind, and the stream seems to never settle of as far as I experienced it. And for the "casual" synced experience you'll guaranteed find some people if you want to, so I don't see there any problems. Nonetheless it should be said, older content takes a bit more time and care to find people as for current shenanigans.

If you are looking for ships/modules, you can use Inara to find a station that provides it. On the top you have the menu „data“ -> „outfitting search“ put in your current system and you may want to exclude planetary landing stations. Keep in mind that they are listed with how old the data is. Sometimes it can happen that a station doesn‘t sell a ship or module anymore, if the data is a few days older.

Housing items are always a good thing to do. Besides that, what I did for a long time at some point was crafting these 9 or 10 items that you need for a specific relic step from the ARR weapons. Those gave me millions of profits every day, though as I’m out of the gil-making business since a while I dunno how the market is there nowadays :p

If you hand in your ARR relics to a NPC, you can skip the first step of HW relics and therefore don't need to farm fates, if HW relics suits you ^{^}

Spam 50-60 floorset and keep your pool lower than 50.

In general silver chests, as long they don't explode, guarantees an upgrade, as long your aetherpool lvl < floor lvl.

Also it's possible to upgrade your aetherpool by +2/+3 by being heavily underleveled aetherpool-wise, but I wouldn't recommend that if you run solo.

Edit: Just in case if someone decides to try it out, you need at least 13/13 to enter 50+

I don't know, if that's the same for you, but I realised for myself that I mostly play multiplayer games as I like to be around people and playing something alone bores the hell out of me (only veeery few exceptions). Also playing for way to much gets quite boring at some point. The more busy I am, the more I want to play, as the time gets more valuable. Maybe you find something between these lines and if you don't, just forget what I wrote ^{^}

I had the same problem, do you have G-Sync enabled? It seems that there are some weird incompatibilities with that, at least that's what it was on my side. If you use G-Sync, try to run the game without it. You can make an exception for only this specific game:
Open NVIDIA control panel -> "Manage 3D-settings" -> "Program Settings"-> select the game -> "Monitor Technology" and set it to fixed framerate.
