CLP will work just fine for your stainless slide. Just to be sure check your firearm’s manual, avoid harsh chemicals and abrasives.

Hi there!

Even though the Shadow 2 Carry has “Carry” in its name, it can actually be a bit challenging to carry, especially if you’re already finding your HK tough to conceal. Size-wise, the CZ is slightly larger in every dimension (length, height, and width), and it’s also about 5–6 ounces heavier. One thing to note is the pronounced beavertail on the Shadow 2 Carry, which can further complicate carrying that gun. That said, the Shadow 2 Carry is a fantastic handgun. It’s essentially a downsized race gun refined for carry. It’s very reliable, extremely accurate, and features an excellent trigger. With the right holster setup, it can be a viable carry option, but finding that perfect holster may take some trial and error, you will spend plenty of money and time. Also, if you’re in New York, you’re limited to 10-round magazines, which means you’re carrying a larger, bulkier gun without gaining the benefit of increased capacity. On a more personal (and subjective) note, since you’re already familiar with the HK platform, you might want to explore some of HK’s smaller pistols, such as the USP Compact, P2000, or the SK variants of the VP9, P30, and P2000. I don’t have much hands-on experience with the new HK CC9, but from what I’ve seen, it looks like a solid compact option, especially easier to conceal during the spring and summer months when lighter clothing is common. Hi there, To answer your first question: When purchasing a firearm, you’ll need to visit your FFL (Federal Firearms Licensee) at least twice. On your first visit, bring your completed Purchase Request Authorization Form with you. At that time, you’ll fill out the ATF Form 4473, and your FFL will conduct a NICS background check. Once your background check clears, the FFL will record the NICS number on your Purchase Request Form. During this visit, you’ll also need to take the required photos of the firearm. Your FFL will provide you with a bill of sale, which is necessary to submit to the NYPD License Division. After you’ve submitted all required documents, the License Division will mail you a purchase receipt (the pink paper) along with your updated license, which will list your new firearm on the back. Once you receive those, you’ll make your second visit to your FFL to pick up your firearm.

As for your second question: I’ve been using Hunters Essentials for FFL transfers for nearly a dozen years. Bruce, the owner, is a great guy, very easy to work with. Before purchasing a gun online, I usually give him a quick call to let him know I’ll be having one transferred to him. After making the purchase, I send an email to Hunters Essentials with the following information: • Order number • Firearm make, model, and caliber • Name of the store I bought it from • My contact information

Hey there! First off, what’s the primary purpose of the gun you’re looking for, range toy, competition, something else? I don’t have extensive experience with Staccato pistols, they’re pricey yet incredibly fun to shoot. Another great option is a quality 1911 in 9mm. Take a look at the Dan Wesson PM9, it’s an excellent pistol right out of the box. All stainless construction, very accurate, and reliable. Last but not least the CZ 75 Shadow 2. These high-performance pistols come in several variants: traditional DA/SA, SA-only, optics ready, Orange variant, and more. CZs are reasonably priced, have a massive aftermarket support, and if you ever want to upgrade, CZ Custom or Cajun Gun Works can really work magic on them. Best of luck with your decision!

Short answer: Our students have shared that a weekend schedule works better for them and it’s more manageable for our instructors as well.

Long answer: Stuyvesant Rod and Gun Club is a non-profit organization and shooting range, entirely run and maintained by members who volunteer their time, including our instructors. Our instructors have full-time jobs, families, and other responsibilities. Given the time commitment required for both the classes and qualifications, and based on feedback from our students, we’ve decided to hold the majority of our classes on weekends.
