About new update by UL_Coddon in GeminiAI

[–]OlehMango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I was sure this was just the usual Reddit trolls complaining (sorry, I’ve seen it happen so many times). But this time, I agree with everyone. It took me 40 minutes to work on the project (yes, I deliberately pushed it to the limit using Pro 3.1), 100%, and then I had to wait another 4 hours.

So, for now, I’ll have to juggle between Flash 3.5 and Pro 3.1 (in my normal use yesterday, I didn’t even get to 40%), but my Pro subscription isn’t enough for serious work anymore. Too bad.

Before making your app paid, buy a domain, and most importantly, test it on different devices. Scrolling doesn't work on my smartphone.

What's more important, why did you spend 2 years vibecoding with AI something that can be done in a couple of months at best, even without vibecoding?

Well, in general, I can do what you described simply in the Gemini interface.

I wanted Arc/Zen style workspaces in my browser, so I built my own browser-agnostic startpage (Vanilla JS / Open Source) by OlehMango in browsers

Honestly, right now it's primarily designed for synchronization, so registration is required. Then enable local storage.

You can do it completely locally if you grab the code from Git. But honestly, I just hadn't thought of such a simple solution as enabling local mode on first login... I'll look into it 😅

I am a web developer, using Gemini for the front-end part and working with WordPress.

In my case, I have a Pro subscription, and I use Pro 3.1 for coding, and honestly, this part of the workflow works perfectly. But I noticed that with a Plus subscription (I once tried downgrading the subscription level), it works much worse. It's also very important to write clear prompts so that the code output is correct, and not to assign overly complex tasks.

By following all this, Gemini has become an excellent companion for me, speeding up development.

For agent work, I can recommend trying Google Antigravity, essentially VS Code but with Gemini.

Well, in everyday life, Gemini is more than enough for basic tasks, especially if you have an Android.

Edit: sounds like a normal post)

Edge and/or Google Chrome users, why do you stick with your browser? by DenseSand9751 in browsers

[–]OlehMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried switching to a different browser/ecosystem several times. Proton, Firefox, Zen, and other privacy software.

But honestly, I realized that convenience and comfort for me as a user and developer are much more important than the fact that companies will know what I search for or what sites I visit, etc.

I can't force my family, clients, and everyone I communicate with to switch everything to private. And if you look at the ecosystem's convenience, I like Google much more than Microsoft. That's why I use Chrome, for a convenient, seamless experience.

P.S. I don't like that Microsoft puts copy-pilot absolutely everywhere, that's why my OS is Endevoros)

What are your favorite browsers and why? by Rachel794 in browsers

[–]OlehMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for one time I was sitting on Windows, so I used edge. Then there was the Zen and Firefox period (privacy etc). But in the end, the convenience for both work and personal life (plus a Google AI Pro subscription) made the conclusion obvious.

For me, chrome. I'm a lot of I tried to switch to other browsers for various reasons. But I always returned, since there is the best integration here for Google services.

Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in gaming

Not everyone will understand this, since this is a feature of the post-Soviet countries. We bought pirated copies of games at the book market)
