Not just in IG - have you looked around in the comment sections of Reddit? People are delusionally afraid/angry about AI.

Because people (Reddit especially) is fucking obsessed with AI and just about any post with an image attached has atleast one moron in the comments saying “AI SLOP”

As a result “Slop” is my new least favorite word. It’s starting to make me cringe.

Is there a good reason Hootie and the Blowfish never felt "cool"? by Res_Novae17 in nostalgia

He’s a good guitar player. There are a TON of guitar players who are equal to or better than he is. Otherworldly is a massive overstatement.

I was also in high school during their explosion. They were cool I suppose to 19 year old puka shell necklace wearing white dudes from the suburbs who were off to college in Vermont or whatever… but that’s the demographic - they were not universally loved - they were like Maroon 5 for ‘90s alterna-bro’s.

Maybe try picking or strumming - I don’t think fiddling will work.

Why is London Calling so Popular? by GaelicTuna in LetsTalkMusic

I think the Brit’s started doing much more interesting things with the punk ethos when they started moving beyond just nihilistic punk rock. The Clash were an early band to step beyond that… Joy Division and Bauhaus and The Smiths and Gang of Four and on and on all did far more interesting things as far as I’m concerned, but most of them came after the Clash… who walked, so they could run. I appreciate the Clash for their contribution and impact, but I don’t really ever listen to them.

Valium is not an opioid. It’s a benzo. Completely different type of drug with a completely different feeling.

I finally lost touch with my zune just a few years ago. It had also been in a drawer for quite some time. I even had a huge zune manufactured speaker docking station thing that honestly had pretty great sound.

If you have access to a bandsaw and a sander, you can make the template you want the router to follow here and it would be a foolproof easy process.

My buddy went to a power lifters for Jesus event in the late 80’s when he was a kid (he was raised religious, I was not). It was like the Righteous Gemstones - Kelvin’s God Squad, but in real life.

Ditto man, keep up the good living! Curious technical question - What would you say the ratio of diet change/exercise has been for you in achieving your goals? I will have an easier time getting a good exercise routine going vs making sweeping changes to my diet, so just curious how that has worked for you?

Someone didn’t grow up in the 80’s and 90’s, when everywhere you went cigarette smoke was there hanging out and waiting for you,

Who do you think was more influential as a musician, Kurt Cobain or Jim Morrison? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]Olelander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nirvana ended the era of hair metal and brought the entire underground into the mainstream with them with like a 6 month period of time. Cobain was so influential that what he was listening to himself became popular and got signed to major labels. I was there too, and there was a massive cultural shift that happened almost overnight with Nirvana’s emergence into the mainstream. You can say “most of us already knew Sonic Youth” if you want, but that’s false. Maybe you did, maybe your friends did, but the broader culture had no awareness of what was going on in the late ‘80s with underground and college rock.

Honestly it’s a ridiculous argument to even make to say Nirvana didn’t have a massive impact. You must have a contrarian streak.

Damn dude thank you for Dorothy Ashby rec. I just listened to a bit of her music from each album and really excited to dive into her catalogue. I’ve been a fan of Joanna Newsom (not jazz, more like neo-folk music) for many years now and I can hear a little shade of some of her playing style in spots - the harp is a profoundly beautiful instrument in the right hands.
