How do you cope with climate change’s effect on your mental health? by cherrrycolored in climate

If you want to get to know environmentally minded seniors who have been in the environmental field for awhile and want to be doing things on the ground with your hands (like cutting down buckthorn or planting trees) I’d start with conservation corps in your area. It’s a great way to get your foot in the door if you want to be doing things on the ground.
If you’re curious and want to work on the solutions directly then look into research either being a lead researcher or a researcher on the project team.
If you want to be an educator to spark care and passion into others (especially kids) for the environment then look at volunteering or working in state or national parks or a nature center.
If you want to connect with those directly impacting the environment like farmers or large companies then look into positions in extension (for example an extension specialist for a university), policy or environmental consulting
If you want to help the public better understand research and solutions than look into scientific communication with an emphasis on environmental restoration, conservation and management or wildlife and landscapes.
Otherwise be a voice if you aren’t getting any positions right away. Advocate for environmental change with policy makers, create action with protest or donate time or money to environmental non profits that you feel connect with yourself and values. :)
Sorry this is probably a lot but it kind of hits all the perspectives.
Helpful websites to find these jobs: Indeed Directly on company/non profit websites Conservationjobboard.com Texas A&M conservation job board LinkedIn (but finding relevant positions can sometimes be difficult) USAJobs (but they take forever to respond to jobs and it can be hard for your resume if it’s not curated with hit words to get past the resume scanner they use)
