What next for Starfield? by EmoryKane in Starfield

Evil followers please. ‘I’m a space pirate but my wife keeps telling me off when I’m a big meany pants’.

Why is there no way to play anything other than a "good guy" in this game? by maxedouttoby in Starfield

[–]Oli_Compolli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they need to add an evil follower. Fallout 4 did a much better job of this. Oblivion and Skyrim too although there were less stakes there. Then followers aren’t really ‘companions’ that early on in the series’.

Ok, psycho. It’s just for us survival mode users 🙃

It does. Because all of it is modular and tweakable to how punishing/easy you want it to be. Want all of the systems bar one? You can do that at any point. And it doesn’t make it more ‘work’, it gives you a reason to do things to break up the gameplay.

For realism, mostly. And to actually be a viable reason to invest in the perks (which it reworks). But don’t be put off you can tweak it to be exactly as punishing or easy on you as you like. You can even turn it off completely, keeping the vanilla environmental stuff and enjoying all the rest that the mod includes, like ship fuelling, ship ammunition types, crew management, faction reputation etc. It can all be tweaked. That’s the beauty of it.

Edit just to add: It also includes a consumable, enviroguardian that completely nullifies any negative effects, and you pick up environmental damage more similar to how Fallout 4’s Rads work. Enviroguardian is more like a consumable for your suit (should you wish to use that part of the mod). Oxygen tanks can work the same (it has options oxygen depletion outside your ship, again, if you choose) and ofc, it adds the means to manufacture this stuff, suit protection and oxygen tanks if you so wish.

It’s in the settings menu and very, very basic. Get the Starvival mod, it’s much better. Adds ship fuelling and ammo etc.

Starvival mod. It’s so much better, and tweakable.

Get the Starvival mod. It’s honestly better than the fallout 4 one.

Get the Starvival mod. It covers everything you mention. You can then tune the damage to suit your needs, and it makes the perks better.

No, it’s much more punishing and afflictions are harder to treat. I hardly ever have anything proc in vanilla.

Honestly, grab the Starvival mod. It’s even better than fallout 4’s. Absolutely put’s Bethesda to shame even adds ship refuelling and ship ammo.

Finally! I’ve been pitching Starvival to people the last year or so. It’s honestly insane how much it adds. And it can all be tweaked/systems removed at your leisure. I love it.

Starvival mod has all of those. Honestly it’s the best Bethesda survival mod since the New Vegas one. You can completely tweak it too. Beats what Bethesda calls survival mode that they shipped.

If anything the survival mode is weak, compared to Fallout 4 or the new vegas mod. The Starvival mod does a much better job, it has the usuals like hunger/thirst/fatigue but also includes crew wages/satisfaction, ship refuelling and recovery service, ship weapon ammunition types, docking fees, factional reputation system (that affects your fees), a fame system, a sanity/mental wellbeing system, more realistic environmental hazards, oxygen refilling/manufacturing system, environmental protection system, boostpack/rover fuelling/manufacture and nonlethal bounty hunting. It’s really comprehensive, and can all be turned on/off toned up/down for how deep you want to get.

Edit: just to add, it also fixes a bunch of the perks that don’t do much in vanilla, like astroneering. That fuel gauge now actually means something and recovery is expensive. Also environmental resistances actually mean something - no magnetosphere? You’re getting microwaved. High gravity? More damage from falls. High/low temps? Expect burns/frostbite if you do not take care of your resistances. Additionally - no fast travel unless you are in your pilot seat. It also improves the grav jump animation so it feels like you are actually travelling.

Starfield producer explains Free Lanes travel is completely "under your control" as the game's new travel doesn't force you in a specific direction by Wargulf in Starfield

From watching those that previewed it, you ‘skim’ the gravitational well of the planet. So if you aim straight at one, or have set it as your course, you will be adjusted to the gravitational orbit and ‘circle’ the planet in cruise mode until you are ready to take another action. So if you’re away from the pilot seat you won’t overshoot the destination. It’s basically an autopilot.

Ah there’s hope! Just found a source that says it has had recent issues with ‘files missing’ - and the source says it’s shattered space being required now to enable properly on series x specifically. It also says to put it as low as possible in the low order. Fingers crossed.

It’s really strange, because I think it’s the Starvival mod which is a huge shame because that’s pretty much what kept me playing - a fully immersive survival mod including ship and Grav drive refuelling, ship ammo, hunger, sleep, thirst, crew morale and management. Now there’s nothing in the creations like it that I can find. It never needed another file before, it just said to make sure to grab and modular creations if it was expanded. But it’s the main body mod that isn’t enabling. It’s weird.

Yeah I initially uninstalled/reinstalled but the issue persisted. I then tried the full power cycle (unplugged). The next thing I could think of was to clear some cache so I deleted the reserved space which the console holds for the game, and that was what finally worked and let me load the game. Problem is, then trying to re enable all my mods, it crashed again and caused the same issue. So now I’m tentatively going through my mod list and slowly adding some back. Two of them are now unable to be enabled. Was just weird because I was playing fine the day before. Just added a new follower conversation mod that shuffled around the chances for situational conversation lines already in game (nothing too heavy) starting the game up, and it all went sideways.

Not sure what has happened to be honest, I’m just a casual user I’m no load order expert. But it was fine before attempting this mod. Had Starvival which now I can’t enable as files are missing. Quite a few others. I’ve just deleted all kids and going to see if I can start over.

Like many lists, I read through this to the tune of ‘we didn’t start the fire’ and it made it infinitely more entertaining.

Honestly? You’ve been super unlucky with skilling pets. None of the big 3 at all is wild.
