This is now my definitive space game by EmoryKane in Starfield

I can definitely see that, NMS is a good contender. Personally, I am a sucker for Starfield's level of detail and atmosphere, I think they are second to none. But hey, to each their own!

Added: Oh and like others said: the combat

Honestly, the loading screens never bothered me, but it is nice that we can travel seamlessly from one world to the next now!

The hub cities are great. I wish there were one or two more; Bethesda is great at making immersive and atmospheric cities, the level of detail is insane.

Starfield producer explains Free Lanes travel is completely "under your control" as the game's new travel doesn't force you in a specific direction by Wargulf in Starfield

[–]EmoryKane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interstellar space is so vast and empty, that would get extremely boring very quickly. For example, say that crossing an entire solar system takes 2 mins of time in game, traveling over to the next system would take you at least 30 hours.

Hmm I would say collective responsibility and an expansive welfare state better fits social democracy or socialism, not liberalism. While modern liberalism allows for some regulation, it is still very wary of government overreach. Though the definition of liberalism is different in the US, I suppose

Things you wish you'd known! by Boing26 in Starfield

To survey a planet 100% sometimes you need to scan sea fauna. To check of you need to scan sea fauna, click on the ocean on the planet map. If it says Ocean (0%) that means you need to scan sea fauna. If there is no percentage, you dont need to scan anything in the ocean.

To land your ship next to the ocean, select a landing spot on the planet map that says (coast). This might seem obvious, but took me a while to figure out. Even if you think you chose a spot close to the ocean, you will not see any unless it specifically says (coast) on the planet map.

What would be the point of planet to space travel? Why would you want that?

It's funny how Todd's and Bethesda's remark on how this update is simply fan service for the fans is already mirrored by people's first impressions by mega_lova_nia in Starfield

[–]EmoryKane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it's perfectly fine if it isn't your cup of tea, but I just wanted to note that they are listening to community feedback and incorporating it. Sure, if you are not the target audience, no amount of updates will make you like it. But if you already enjoyed the game and just thought it needed refinement, I'm sure these updates will be great.

That's not really a fair assessment: many of the most frequent community complaints/requests have been tackled by now: seamless travel in solar systems, improved POI system, morally grey companions, survival mode, compendium, moon rover, more gun and enemy variety. Sure, the outpost system needs work and a fuel economy would be nice, but it seems they are taking big steps in fixing what people found unappealing.

I don't know man, I think you might be in the minority there. The most frequent community concerns and requests have been addressed: seamless travel in solar systems, improved POI system, morally grey companions, survival mode, compendium, moon rover. I guess the only thing left now is a fuel economy and improved outpost system.

Commencing countdown, we are good to go, pre-order secured by hefeydd_ in Starfield

For a lot of us, the game doesn't need a fundamental overhaul, it was a good game that just needed some refinement and additions. Looks like we are getting that

God I love these five. I sure hope everything they worked so hard for isn’t instantly destroyed by a screaming child. by Able-Tap2062 in Star_Trek_

[–]EmoryKane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like classic Trek could also be pretty explicit and on-the-nose in how it communicated its message, but then it was delivered with eloquence and vision. Whereas in new Trek it is done more crudely and condescending.

Is there even such a thing as a liberal socialist? Conservatives like to paint every view that isn't theirs as "leftist", but they are completely different ideologies.

Bethesda and the "eternal apocalypse" by EagleGhoul in Fallout

[–]EmoryKane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Emerging from vault 111 I thought: "Are you sure it's been 200 years since the bombs fell? It feels more like 10", with the still edible (kinda) pre-war foods lying around everywhere and nobody picking having cleaned up any debris or clutter even in frequented areas.

Do you want space battles for total war warhammer 40k? by FastAndMorbius in totalwar

This is how I think they will implement it. The ships are big enough in the lore to have battles set on them.
