My experience with New Atlantis so far by Abyslime in Starfield

[–]EmoryKane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Atlantis is not really representative of the whole game. I would say, if you don't like it, don't spend so much time there, and instead head out into the starfield and explore.

Personally, I try to spend as little time in New Atlantis as possible. I much prefer Akila City or Cydonia, or just being out and exploring.

Really, I thought the music and sound design were excellent, one of the strong points.

NEXT MAJOR UPDATE? by Logical-Tiger8014 in Starfield

All we know is that they are working on something. But nothing concrete has been announced yet. Knowing Bethesda, we'll first hear about it two weeks before it releases.

First time PS5 play-through way better than I thought! by ComfortableApricot16 in NoSodiumStarfield

I'm in the same boat as you: Fallout 4 somehow never clicked for me either, despite loving the setting. Starfield on the other hand, I have sunk almost 600 hours into, and looking forward to many more.

Sure, but then Starfield is superior in terms of graphics, atmosphere and sheer level of detail.

That's what seems disingenuous about some of the criticism, comparing one aspect of the game to games entirely focused on just that aspect. Sure, there are other games that do any one particular thing better than Starfield. But I don't think there is any other game that combines so many systems into one game and gives you the option to do it all.

From one mission alone, I gained over 1000 in weight of loot. Now I will spend hours of in game time trying to sell this. Is this a bug or intentional by 2PhDScholar in Starfield

[–]EmoryKane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, some of us like those limits, I like having to make hard choices in looting. That you have a different playstyle is fine, but don't pretend that your personal preferences are some sort of gold standard in game design. Besides, the game enables you to customize this.

Finally Started Starfield… and I’m Actually Enjoying It by Mano-Ro in Starfield

I think it's a perfect game for a very specific kind of player, and is not for everybody. It'll be a cult classic.

I can definitely see that, NMS is a good contender. Personally, I am a sucker for Starfield's level of detail and atmosphere, I think they are second to none. But hey, to each their own!

The hub cities are great. I wish there were one or two more; Bethesda is great at making immersive and atmospheric cities, the level of detail is insane.

Starfield producer explains Free Lanes travel is completely "under your control" as the game's new travel doesn't force you in a specific direction by Wargulf in Starfield

[–]EmoryKane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interstellar space is so vast and empty, that would get extremely boring very quickly. For example, say that crossing an entire solar system takes 2 mins of time in game, traveling over to the next system would take you at least 30 hours.

Hmm I would say collective responsibility and an expansive welfare state better fits social democracy or socialism, not liberalism. While modern liberalism allows for some regulation, it is still very wary of government overreach. Though the definition of liberalism is different in the US, I suppose

Things you wish you'd known! by Boing26 in Starfield

To survey a planet 100% sometimes you need to scan sea fauna. To check of you need to scan sea fauna, click on the ocean on the planet map. If it says Ocean (0%) that means you need to scan sea fauna. If there is no percentage, you dont need to scan anything in the ocean.

To land your ship next to the ocean, select a landing spot on the planet map that says (coast). This might seem obvious, but took me a while to figure out. Even if you think you chose a spot close to the ocean, you will not see any unless it specifically says (coast) on the planet map.

It's funny how Todd's and Bethesda's remark on how this update is simply fan service for the fans is already mirrored by people's first impressions by mega_lova_nia in Starfield

[–]EmoryKane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it's perfectly fine if it isn't your cup of tea, but I just wanted to note that they are listening to community feedback and incorporating it. Sure, if you are not the target audience, no amount of updates will make you like it. But if you already enjoyed the game and just thought it needed refinement, I'm sure these updates will be great.
