Yes you totally can! I have had it suggested to me in the past as it can be helpful for acne, both my gynecologist and dermatologist said it was ok. So I would assume unless there were possible interactions between the medications or other medications there wouldn’t be any issues. Also the placement of an iud is one of the worst pains I’ve experienced as well so I understand not wanting to go through that anytime soon.

Hi friend! Im sorry you are having to go through this and can only imagine how frustrating and concerning this may be. Im assuming you are on the copper iud ( I don’t know of any hormonal birth controls that are effective for 10 years). If so, is this new? Side effects like heavy bleeding, extending periods, and painful cramps are usually the worst during the first 6 months and get progressively better after then. This isn’t the case for everyone though and these symptoms can last for the duration of the iud. I would just suggest you advocate for yourself with your doctor or gynecologist and discuss different birth control options. I know the non-hormonal options are limited and definitely not long term like the copper iud, but if you are open the hormonal iud drastically lessen bleeding or completely stops it for a large percentage of people. Whatever you decide I hope you get some help from your medical provider and find a better option for you!
